Plenty of vegetarian options in addition to staff that was very accommodating to any substitutions (they subbed out bacon for avocado in my breakfast burrito). My breakfast burrito was tasty and a good value. My partner had the croissant sandwich (house-made croissant) and said it was very good and filling.

A group of us dropped into Cafe Tico on one of our last days in Tamarindo - wish we had gone sooner! This little spot tucked off the street (in front of a great used book store) serves up a mean cup of coffee and great options for breakfast. The staff was friendly and attentive. Definitely a recommended breakfast spot if you find yourself in Tamarindo.

Cafe Tico has not only the best coffee in Tamarindo, it has the best banana and papaya bread! This place is great, I had all my breakfast there. I tried the tipico, bacon breakfast sandwich and vegan burrito. They all were great, huge portions with a exquisite local flavor, One morning I met the owner because besides cooking, she also likes to have an opinion about the food and the service. She seems to care a lot about this place and you can tell!! I will definitely come back next time.

I will be giving this cute place one more try to redeem themselves. Honestly, 2 of us would have given them 3⭐️ or less while the others had a better experience, so we agreed to average it out. The servers were so kind, but here’s what’s went wrong- Our black coffees were forgotten while other tables were getting their fancy coffees delivered without issue. The food took a very long time. This I can forgive, it was busy. The pinto gallo had hard pieces of rice. We love a great tico breakfast so this was disappointing. Lastly, when we got our check, we had been charged 2800 colones for toast that we did not order. My sweet husband tipped the server with it (since we had already paid before they removed the charges), but this is a major turnoff to me when you add everything up from our experience. I really hope the next time is better because the place is cute and people are kind and hardworking.

I am so sorry you did not have a good experience at Café Tico. We do try our best to provide good service AND quality food to our customers. Our staff is new and we are making adjustments so I appreciate your willingness to give us another try. Hope to see you soon.

Can magic exist in a cup of coffee? Or a plate of food? The answer is yes! I had the pleasure of meeting one of the owners and we chatted about my first experience with breakfast. Thank you for your time! This cute little cafe is your answer if you are interested in healthy food/drink consumption. Everything is organic including the coffee. The prices are low and do not reflect tourist gouging prices the rest of tamarindo has to offer. It's a bit off the beaten path, yet still within walking distance from whatever direction you are coming from. I told her I would be coming back and I will. I wanted to write a review to make sure others know how amazing this place is! Do yourself a favor and spend your hard earned dollars, investing in your health. Your body will thank you and so will the staff. 😁

Jeff, I remember you very well. You were early morning and got the fresh croissant. Unfortunately early morning next I had an horrible accident I was hospitalized for 2 days. Had to closed the café. Anyway, I want to say thank you for your wonderful and supportive message. That’s means a lot to us. I’m going to the states right now to see my doctor over but the café will be open. I hope life will give us the opportunity to be together at Café Tico again. Thank you!!!

It seems like this restaurant is easy to miss as they are set back slightly off the main street. They have a really vast and varied menu, and everything we ordered tasted amazing and was good value. I also went many times just for their iced coffee, which is arguably tastier than the pure coffee places in town and served much more quickly. The staff are very friendly and always had a smile on their faces. Would definitely recommend for a nice breakfast or brunch!

Wer chanced upon Cafe Tico while spending a week in Tamarindo on the Langosta-side of town, and it was immediately habit forming. They have a wide menu of juices, coffees and breakfasts revolving around eggs but embracing sandwiches and other options including some vegan offerings. Everything was delicious. Go here. Bring tip money. Keep them in business so I can return next time I'm in town.

Cafe Tico in Tamarindo, Costa Rica is a delightful little cafe that serves up a fantastic breakfast. The food is delicious and the prices are very reasonable, making it a great value for anyone looking for a tasty and affordable meal. One of the standout features of Cafe Tico is the owner, Jay, who exudes a welcoming and friendly energy that makes customers feel right at home. His passion for food and his dedication to quality are evident in every dish that comes out of the kitchen. In addition to the excellent food and welcoming atmosphere, the staff at Cafe Tico are also a major asset. They are attentive and dedicated to providing top-notch service to every customer who walks through the door. Overall, Cafe Tico is a must-visit spot for anyone in Tamarindo who is looking for a delicious breakfast at a great price, served up with a side of welcoming energy and attentive service.

The Sunday Brunch was good...as advertised at $12 each. 2 people =$24. Then we added an orange juice with a little champagne in a champagne glass. We got a whopping bill of FORTY dollars before tip!! Then we were told their cost was 7,000 colonies each that's $24.00 for two!! Give me a break!!! Really?? I advise people not go there

I mainly had a croissant and cappuccino here but the ladies running this place are very sweet. The cappuccino was a little too hot for my taste, and the prices not the cheapest, but the croissant was delicious! I saw other guests eating breakfasts and their plates looked amazing. Next time I'll try a full breakfast here.

There are 40 places to eat in Tamarindo — this café should be last on your to-do list. USD $25 for a mediocre breakfast, including lukewarm coffee and day-old fruit salad. Our first warning: inedible tops of unripened strawberries and mushy papaya. My omelette came with one mangy piece of toast. When I asked for a second piece, the server brought it. And charged me two extra bucks! I know Tamagringo is an overpriced haven for cruise-ship buffet fans, but Tico needs to get competent management. Quick. :(

Guys, having breakfast in town can be tricky because it is cheap food but you,re willling to pay for new flavours. This place has very good drinks, but it is over price.. not even autentic costa rican pinto.. its hipster overpriced type of place. It used to be good but the changed owners.. and staff. Im sorry the staff there is great ( the new one) but the food quality went bad. Not a good gallo pinto.

It was just ok. My friends eggs were runny when asked for over easy and my breakfast burrito with ham was dry and only had 2 small pieces of ham in it. My husband was not excited about his huevos rancheros either. We should have realized when we saw the sign that said the restaurant was for sale that we should go somewhere else. There are so many other amazing breakfast places in Tamarindo, I would not come here again. Unfortunately others were closed on Monday so we ended up here.

We ate here twice during our visit. Food and service was excellent. The owner was very nice and I watched him comp a couples meal when the electricity went out because they did not have cash. I offered to pay and even gave him the money for their food. He would not accept it.

I have been working from Tamarindo for a month now and have tried Breaking Bread, Joes, Oveja, and some other breakfast locations. Cafe Tico is my favorite, the eggs, bread, fruit, potatoes, and sauces are amazing here. When my friends visit I always bring them to Cafe Tico.
