Angelina's is a fine dining restaurant situated near the crescent-shaped shores of Playa Flamingo, Costa Rica. Since 2008, we have been serving locals and visitors of the Playa Flamingo area. We pride ourselves on our attentive service, our globally inspired locally sourced cuisine, and our unique open-air dining room that inspires us every day. Our food is authentic, fresh, and inspired by the bounty of the northwest coastal Guanacaste region. Named after our beloved grandmother, Angelina's represents her Italian roots and heartfelt dedication to her family. We welcome you into ours!
We ate here 2 times and drinks for one.. The staff are incredibly nice.. Rodney, and a female, made us feel like we were old friends.. Flavorful steak, and fish . Margaritas were perfect, not too sweet and delicious.. we would go back again.. !!!
This was my third visit to Angelina's and I was happy to find the people and the cuisine just as enjoyable as I remembered despite this COVID-19 threat. We were greeted with the same friendly, professional service and the food and drink offerings were not...limited. Everyone enjoyed their selections and I have to say I had probably the best sea bass meal I ever tasted. Will look forward to returning on our next visit to CR.More
One of the few places open on Christmas night and how fortunate for us! Outstanding food, service, atmosphere. A nice duo, Jennifer and Enoch entertaining. Prior review knocked this place and said they were serving Indian food. Absolutely false (or things have radically changed) we...had a wonderful experience.More
We have been going to Angelina’s for many years, and always loved it until this last visit. Although the website still represents that Joe and Justin are still running the place and that it is still an Italian restaurant, all of that is false. It...is now own/run by someone else and he has ruined it. Most of the dishes were Indian food. Gone are most of the pastas, all of the pizza (the big pizza oven lies dormant), the nice cuts of meat, etc. We were shocked because that is not what the website represents, but we like good Indian food, so decided to give it a try since we were already there. Everything we had was terrible. Even the one throwback pasta dish that remained on the menu amidst all the unfortunate changes and that we ordered as one of our appetizers, was a failure (the black pasta with seafood, that was so delicious in the past, but now is dry and flavorless).
With respect to the dining experience, our server was wonderful and has been there for years. However, our overall experience was not wonderful, even putting aside the food. The current owner was there holding court with a very large table of some of the loudest human beings I have ever been around. I would estimate 12-15 of them, yelling and making crude jokes and cursing on the top of their lungs. Perhaps they were drunk, but it was only 7:15. While I do not begrudge people their fun, if you want to be that loud and obnoxious, you need to close the restaurant to other guests and have a private party. Luckily, there were no kids there that night, but I did not get the impression they would have stopped the loud cursing and crude jokes even if there had been. In any event, I do not expect that type of experience at a fairly nice restaurant, and one wonders how much this current owner cares about his customers if he is the catalyst for such behavior.
Although we will be returning to Costa Rica in March, for the first time in many, many years, we will not be returning to Angelina’s. It made us very sad to see such a lovely restaurant that once was run by such lovely people, be driven into the ground. In any event, when deciding whether to dine here, you can ignore completely everything on their website and all earlier positive reviews based on the former owners and the former menu. None of that exists anymore. For the owner: you need to change your website. It is entirely misleading.More
Anglina's was great! We at dinner with a party of eight with no reservations. The staff was very accommodating and the food was excellent. Good beer and wine selection but could be better. The food did take longer than what I think we are accustomed...to in the states but was very good. Recommend the fish of the day. There are very few dining option in Playa Flamingo and Angelina's is probably the best fine dining option.More
Good environment and friendly waitresses. Ordered a 14oz NY strip for $42 (!!) which had a major tendon in it. When notifying the manager she responded that several other clients had the same complaint earlier. So why was it served at all? Overpriced restaurant -...Much better options available in Playa Flamingo and surroundings.More
Great high end Italian dining and our meal was perfect ! The sea bass, tuna, and caprice salad was outstanding. Majority of customers are dressed up w their nicest vacation clothing. The neighboring restaurant just below was absolutely packed and more casual. So Angelina’s atmosphere...has a more relaxed and potentially attentive atmosphere to it. Unfortunately I was wearing a baseball style hat with nice clothes when we arrived on time for our reservation and we seem to have lost our optimum table overlooking the pavilion which we requested on line. Hostess seemed very surprised we had a reservation. She quickly found us a backup table in the rear of the restaurant but service was a bit slow as they catered to two tables with 8 people. Dining experience was still very good and you will definitely like Angelina’s.More
