Great Atmosphere at Buzzed Monkey

We were 3 couples who arrived around 5:30 pm to a pleasantly lively restaurant! We were quickly seated and drinks served and food ordered within 10. minutes. The burgers were a hit as well as the wings which my Southern friend commented on the smokiness and how their tenderness. The Chicken salad sandwiches had buzzed monkeys own bacon along with tomato and were great with deep fried pickles and sweet potato fries as sides! Reasonably priced, great value, busy spot but seemed to turn over without wait times.....we certainly recommend this new restaurant☺

This has the best breakfast in playa Hermosa,coco area. The tastiest brisket omelette I have ever had, they also have a vegetarian option. All of their menu items exceed your expectations for Georgian style BBQ. If you arntsure if you don't like ribs with a dry rub then ask to have them wet style. Normally open Wed thru Sat except for brunch every second Sunday. Brisket baked beans and Mac and cheese always a favorite.

Calling all herbivores around! If you’re going to cheat.. or should I say when you go on to cheat this is the place to do it at. The brisket is out of this world the ribs are espectacular, and the beer is always cold. What more can you ask for from a southern bbq smokehouse. I personally tend to overeat every time I visit buzzed and literally have to hibernate to process the excess eating. One time I had the great idea of celebrating thanksgiving dinner at buzzed and I kid you not I did not touch food for 24 hours after my thanksgiving dinner. Great place to feast, great place to bring family and friends around, great place to watch sports games, and great place to indulge. I’m not going to talk about the owner and the staff because they are so friendly and fun that would honestly take up another comment box. I ain’t that selfish..

Disappointed

We waited with great anticipation for the resto to open ( closed Mondays and Tuesday’s) as everyone we talked to highly recommended the brisket and the ribs. We went early and had great service and drinks and finally the time came to order food. I ordered the brisket, my wife ordered the jerk chicken and our friends ordered the ribs. My sides of Mac and cheese and slaw were good, but my brisket consisted of two small strips that were over cooked and very dry. My friend’s ribs were undercooked and tough. We obviously caught them on a bad day based on all the reviews I’ve read. I rarely give a bad review and always try to support and promote great local restaurants, but the price we paid for the quality and size of our servings was definitely not up to par or what we expected.

Southern BBQ Smoke Resaurant

Went for dinner. This place came highly recommended by our neighbours in Costa Rica. My wife had the chicken wings, and they allowed her to have as many dipping sauces on the side. I had the smoked brisket. You must try their Mojito's. They are awesome!!! Both our meals were very delicious. The presentation was also good. The staff is very friendly and very accommodating. We will definitely be returning again on our next visit.

Lunch at the Buzzed Monkey

What a delightful lunch. Although we could not get exactly what we would have liked we did have an amazing lunch of brisket, smoked chicken and smoked prime rib. We will definitely go back next week. It was beyond yummy.

Great food, excellent service!

My girlfriend and I were lucky enough to get to eat here during their soft-open at the end of 2020. We sampled as much of the menu as we could and were thoroughly impressed with the quality of the BBQ, certainly not what we expected to find in Costa Rica and easily comparable to the best sit down BBQ joints in the states. Best of all though was how friendly and helpful the waitstaff were and the personal attention by the owners. We'll definitely be paying Buzzed Monkey a visit on our return trip!

The smell of BBQ is intoxicating!

Small spot slightly off the main drag of Coco. The scent of BBQ fills the air. We appreciated getting a medium rare burger- so flavourful. The Cubano was the star though- delish pulled pork and pickles.

Southern BBQ in Costa Rica!

It's nice to grab a slice of true bbq from Georgia during our visit. We will definitely come back. It's also near close to the beach that you could eat a lot and walk it off while taking a stroll on the beach.

Buzzed Monkey BBQ & Grill in Costa Rica is a vibrant and lively bar restaurant

I come to buzzed monkey every time I’m in Costa Rica. It’s the perfect combination of good barbecue flavor from back home combined with a local atmosphere. The servers are always friendly. Valerie or Flacka always take care of us and do a wonderful job. There’s deals or something fun (live music!!) going on every night. Highly recommend!

Great bar. Subpar Food

We have been coming to Costa Rica for 20 years. We spend a lot of time in Coco and Hermosa. Decided to check out Buzzed Monkey. Name sounded cool and the reviews were amazing. But they were off on the food. Buzzed Monkey is a great place to watch a game and have drinks. We had the King’s sampler platter so we were able to try three sides, pulled pork, ribs, wings, and brisket. The food is just ok. Sauces are watered down. Pulled pork is bland. Chicken wings and ribs were ok. Service was slow and the waitress never came back over and forgot my husband’s beer. Bottom line - come for the tvs, atmosphere, DJ, etc. But eat somewhere else and don’t expect much from your servers.

Great BBQ spot! Smoked brisket, ribs, and wings and they can even smoke a whole turkey for special orders. Good sides too, mac & cheese and potato salad. Late night becomes more of a social scene and also a good spot for watching football. Cool spot in Coco worth checking out!

Worst service!

Atmosphere is a solid 5; however, the food was not good. Honestly this was the worst service I have experienced in Costa Rica (or anywhere for that matter). The servers are too busy talking to each other or on their phones. For these reasons (food and service) I will won’t be going back nor would I recommend to others. 5 stars for the atmosphere and quality of TV’s. 1 star for the food 0 stars for service

Great new spot in Coco

We have been here a few times already and have tried almost everything on the menu. Everything is delicious. We would have never imagined that you can get authentic smoked brisket this good here in Costa Rica. The nachos are really good too and the fried sweet potatoes are my favourite. Fantastic options and all in a cool layed back comfortable atmosphere !

Great Southern BBQ

Finally had the chance to get some great southern bbq. Great ambiance with the smoky bbq waffling thru the air. Had the ribs and beans, the portions are large. The ribs were great, tear off the bone and the smoky beans were very nice.
