If you're looking for authentic costa rican food and breakfast, you're not gonna find it here. The Gallo Pinto tasted like cardboard and the eggs where over cooked, the cheese tasteless and no sour cream included. Not much else can go wrong with a gallo...pinto.More

We stopped here on our way to our home away from home in Las Catalinas after visiting Rincon de la Vieja National park. We ordered the casados - chicken thigh (because I like dark meat) and shredded beef for my husband. It came with a...drink, salad, veggies, rice and beans, and a dessert. My 4 yo daughter got the mac and cheese. We got the fried yucca to share. The wait was a bit long ~ 30 mins. This may be normal but we were really hungry and others had reported quick service - maybe this is during lunch but we came around 4 pm when the buffet was no longer open. My meal was around 3300c and my husband's was 3800c. It was quite reasonable for all the food we got. I really enjoyed the fried yucca and my meal. My 4 yo loved my chicken which was seasoned with salt and pepper and well cooked so I had to share. My husband did not like his beef because it had a sweet tomato sauce but he ate it all anyway. My daughter loved her mac and cheese and ate it all. The drinks were like lemonade and was good but a little sweet. The dessert was like a thick rice pudding. My husband loved it. Also, they have pickled cauliflower, broccoli, and pepper that is complimentary if you want to eat it with your meal. I enjoyed the added spice and acidity. Overall really good meal for great price but the wait was a little long...More

I've been here 3 times recently. Coffee and cakes are nice, but the Greek salad which is on a table sign not great. Too much limp leaf lettuce not enough other veg.

So far this is the only place I’ve been in Liberia that has air conditioning! The food is plentiful. It comes with a drink and a small dessert....and plenty to eat. I had the Pechuga pollo, grilled...very good. Very modern inside, so not quaint and...no local feel, but good food.More

We had a fantastic lunch here: Ropa vieja, grilled chicken, pork quesedilla, tostones with black bean purre; brownie and flan for dessert with coffee from Buena Vista Lodge were all excellent!!!!

Liberia Costa Rica - donde Pepe is an Extremely busy cafe and restaurant. Tried out the local Casado - a plate containing rice, black beans, salad with a choice of either beef or chicken or fish. It was very tasty and I tried the hot...peppers and vegetables in a big jar as well which were really hot! I liked it. The green sauce which went with the rice was not hot but very tasty- loved it! The meal also came with fresh fruit juice - mine was guava. For dessert they gave us a piece of what tasted like a brownie. I am used to food being served hot sadly for me - what brought this down to an average is the fact that the beef with onions, rice and black beeans were not hot when served and so was the other order of the same Casado of fish! Something to think about or ask when you order to make sure it is served hot - if you are like me! Price is reasonable and worth itMore

I've eaten in Sodas all around the country and this one does not stand out at all. The pinto was over-cooked and under seasoned, the plantain was dry and boring, and the meat was watery. Fluorescent lighting, buffet service, and people sweeping under the table...I was eating at. I've had much better. Costa Rican Sodas never offer much variety on the menu, but even the government subsidized sodas of the university taste better than this. At least give me some Salsa Lizano or natilla to shake things up a bit!More

Pipe's is a good place for a coffee, lunch or just a quick treat in a busy afternoon! Is also convenient when you are looking for a safe parking lot while you are eating.
