Formally decorated, inside dining, friendly staff and nice setting as you drive out of Turrialba toward the volcano. It serves great food and caters to a lot of the expats living in the area as well.

Costa Rica has many fine places to eat, but most are local and feature traditional food which is fine most of the time! At Don Porfi we found a variety of dishes and excellent service by the owner himself. The wine selection is good and...the appetizers were delicious. The atmosphere is perfect for a romantic evening with your loved one.More

We came to don porfi at the recommendation of our hotel and the experience was incredible. The place is well decorated and cozy. We ordered the seafood and it came perfect. The service is also excellent (gracias Sergio). I recommend everyone who comes to turrialba.

The atmosphere was very nice. Lots of white lights creating a romantic, pleasant vibe. Our server, Segio, was the best. Very friendly, very forthcoming and open. We enjoyed his company and service. He treated us as very welcomed guests.

Loved our lunch! Sat at high bar outside because we love the fresh air but noticed the clean and pretty interior. Started with fresh fruit drinks: pineapple, lemonade and soursop. All were fresh and delicious. Our family ordered local rice and beans with coconut, ceviche,...chicken with salsa and tenderloin. Everyone loved what they ordered. For dessert, my husband had coconut foam and loved it. Service was excellent. Proprietors were very warm. Restaurant and bathroom are spotless. And meal was very affordably priced. We were hesitant to try as it was ranked only 7th on TripAdvisor, and we had already tried the places ranked one and two and were not very impressed. This restaurant is much better than those ranked at the top right now.More

We had one of our best dinners in Costa Rica at Don Porfi. We've been quite early to the restaurant, so not many other guests were there. "The Don" really invested some time in explaining the different dishes and to customize for our vegetarian request....We talked a lot and got some further infos about the CR cuisine. Thanks for the great evening.More

It's hard to find good dining in this region but Don Porfi was just what we were looking for. We came on a Monday evening and there was only one other table occupied. Service was excellent. Our waiter spoke english, and our meals came to...the table relatively fast (we became used to the slow pace of rural meal service, so this was a pleasant surprise). It's a bit more expensive than the restaurante tipico. However, it has a higher standard of service and food quality.More

Just enjoyed a lovely meal at Don Porfi Restaurant. We had the garlic fish, pesto spaghetti and honey ribs. Excellent all round, plus the kids had the homemade lemon pie. Service was great and thoroughly enjoyed it.
