Casa Turire is a breathtakingly beautiful hotel, surrounded by nature and built in a very classy, nice architecture. However, eating there was not a nice experience, even though the service was polite and helpful. The menu was very limited, the food was plain, tasteless and...grossly overpriced, and overall that rip-off feeling spoiled the whole dining experience (US$ 20 for a dish of pasta with no proteins in it... please). If you stay in the hotel (and you must), PLEASE, drive a little and dine anywhere else in downtown Turrialba: you might not find world-class cuisine, but neither will you at Casa Turire, and at least you won't feel robbed.More
We ate here twice because we were staying at the hotel. While we LOVED the hotel, we weren’t thrilled about the restaurant.
The server was excellent and so was the beautiful setting. But I can’t say we loved the food. Though everything was presented well,...we were disappointed with several of our dishes. My dad got sick after eating his rib eye, though I can’t say for sure it was caused by the meat. French fries were the best thing we ate here and the best I’ve had in a long time, but my husbands chicken breast was dry and my Cesar salad was small and too fishy tasting for me. My $29 shrimp plate was tasty, but quite small for the price.More
Luxury hotel in a very nice setting. The place is really recommend to unwind for 2 nights at the beginning or the end of your trip. Furnished with good taste. Rooms are very comfortable. We can recommend the "Filetitos de Tilapia" as a starter and...the "cerdo" as the main dish. It was the best meal we had during our 2-week trip in Costa Rica (but also the most expensive). A place we wish we can return. We very much appreciated the friendliness of the waiter Rafael.More
We stayed for 2 nights. A good half way point from San Jose to Puerto Viejo. The grounds, staff, wildlife, location were all excellent!!!! But, the interior really needs some TLC! The plantain style inn is nice, but the heavy curtains in all the rooms...(dining, library & bedroom) are very dirty, faded and have not been washed or replaced since the place was built. The furniture in the library and common sitting areas we also faded and several pieces need to be replaced. The lamp shades in many areas (inside and out) were full of dead bugs. The bathrooms need some work too. Old faucets are fine as long as they work The water pressure was usually not there and very little hot water and none one time. The light above the sink in the bathroom was rusting and needed to be replaced. Wood trim around the window in the shower was very moldy and needs lots of love. Caulking around the toilet needs to be redone. We love old...but not funky old. Outside will be OK with a good power wash and fresh paint in many areas. And don’t forget to wash the windows....More
This is a classic hotel with beautiful grounds. The long driveway is lined with tall Grand Palms, many of which have long sock-like Oropendula nests hanging down from the branches. The food is superb with very professional staff. There are several small rooms off of...the lobby, a library, billiards, small bar, lots of nooks and crannies both inside and on the outdoor porches.More
My wife and I stayed here for 3 days. Our agent booked the large suite and we enjoyed using the double jacuzzi
The drive up to the hotel is very impressive. The building only has about 15 rooms so the hotel is not busy. It is...presented very well with plenty of sitting areas downstairs. It has a small pool and a kiddie pool
We didn’t eat in the hotel except for breakfast as we felt that it was too expensive.
Staff were always attentive and helpfulMore
Gorgeous grounds, pool and restaurant at an old-style hacienda, away from the town. High-ceilinged rooms with ceiling fans and balconies are lovely. Dinner at the restaurant was very good and there’s a full bar. The hot tub wasn’t very hot, but the setting is beautiful.
