We ate here after zip lining and were starving. The food was excellent. We started with a fruit plate because we were so hungry. My daughter has fallen in love with Arroz con Pollo. My son had the beef stew and I had the Comisa...with beef steak. The food was delicious, well prepared, we also had plantains chips with guacamole. My husband loved his Arroz con Pollo too. Great eats, right on the square. The service was great too. They had beer and other drinks, which. hit the spot.More

Typical and locally authentic, with many choices, including a very inexpensive cafeteria style counter in addition to sit down. Helpful staff, welcoming to tourists.

We ordered beef soup, pizza and beef tongue. I usually love tongue but this was very bland, they boiled it plain and then added tomato sauce no garlic or any other seasonings. I didn't know you can ruin beef tongue, really just grill it with...garlic, salt and olive oil as the most basic way to cook them. The beef soup was really good, almost something that I make at home. My husband's pizza was not good but he's willing to come again tonight because I wanted to eat the beef soup again. I suggested trying the steak or spaghetti or chicken rice... Very nice friendly service also!More

Had dinner here for a one night stay in La fortuna, went with family (group of 11 adults.) We ordered a steak and IT WAS EXPIRED. My boyfriend took the first bite and had to spit it out, it smelled awful too. We returned it...and since we were a little traumatized by the meat, he ordered a grilled chicken. It seemed like the cook was in a rush to leave because the chicken they brought was undercooked and raw on the inside. My boyfriend had to give up and eat the remaining pizza slices someone else had ordered. Pizza dough was not fresh, French fries were toasted and overcooked, mashed potatoes was instant-made mix, Tilapia wasn't good. Our main concern was the expired meat.... had my boyfriend kept eating it whole maybe the story could be a different one .More

The people were friendly, waiter was awesome, and the food was incredible! The special sounded so good that all three of us got it. It was three tacos, one beef, one chicken, and one pork. There was too much for me to finish.

We walked around a bit looking for something reasonably priced and something local. It didn’t look like much from the outside. I saw the premade food and was a bit hesitant but turned out to be amazing!! I asked him for the meal special and...it was 2,600 Colones for one plate (1 meat, 1 sides, a salad and a drink) and 3,700 Colones for a second plate (same as above but with 2 sides). Food tasted really fresh and local. i could look at everything he put on my plate and selected from every option from their buffet. Two dinners for about $12!! Can’t beat that! Will totally go back!More

I have to disagree with some of the previous bad reviews of this place. It doesn’t look like much from the outside, but this is a local “soda” and if you’re looking for a cheap and filling meal, that is what you’ll get. The speciality...will be the typical “Casado” (rice, beans, side salad and a choice of meat) so that’s obviously what they do best. Wash it down with a delicious fresh fruit juice (the watermelon is to die for) and you’ll leave satisfied and hardly any poorer.More

Can beat the price and the comics tipica is really good. Some of my kids had pizza which although slightly different than back home was still really good.
