Soda La Hormiga is a local restaurant in La Fortuna that serves casados and other local cuisine. They also serve “regular meals” for a very affordable price. Within the center, this soda is close to hostels so backpackers can enjoy their good meal. Nothing special with the interior design but the customer service is nice. Their staff are friendly. 💛 #LetsDoThis

We tried 3 different consados and our order of preference was pork, chicken and lastly beef. All were good and very satisfying! Very affordable and made on the open grill right in front of you.
Tip- There is a parking lot in back, don’t park on the street in front - we were warned that we should move our car to avoid a ticket.

Soda La Hormiga is a quaint, Costarician restaurant located on Avenue 325 cose to the bus terminal. Excellent fish tacos! The three of us enjoyed eating there very much. Friendly staff.

This soda was recommended to us by a few locals and it was everything they said it would be. Tucked away off a side street with a very casual feel, the menu is varied and everything is extremely reasonably priced. You really can’t go wrong with the food choices here and it feels very local and authentic. Would highly recommend for lunch!

Good food and great atmosphere. Kids ordered chicken fingers and fries and parents ordered traditional Costa Rican Cosada. Reasonable prices. Clean washrooms. Paid with credit card.

Our tour guide recommended Soda La Horminga for good, reasonably priced, genuine local food. Didn’t disappoint, the place was busy with a friendly buzz when we arrived, and only a brief wait for a table. We ordered typical dishes chicken and vegetarian and kids meals chicken nuggets and burger. All went down a treat, and less than £20 for family of four!!

Most importantly - locals eat there !!!
Had Brunch.
Convenient and spacious parking on an otherwise busy road.
Short wait time
Staff were very attentive and ordering was fast.
Food was delicious, would rate is 4 out of 5

We went to La Hormiga on a recommendation of someone we met on a tour and were not disappointed. We all had tacos and they were delicious. Staff was helpful and friendly and service was fast so we were onto our next adventure quickly. Easy and inexpensive with great quality!

When eating here my wife told the waitress about her gluten intolerance and she was given a casado that was supposed to be gluten free. Unfortunately, she immediately began to feel unwell with what she knows to be symptons for eating gluten and was ill following this.
The food was otherwise mediocre, and would have been one of the worst sodas visited on our trip despite this.

One of our tour guides recommended this soda and it was so great we went back a second time! It is definitely a local place and that is what makes it so great. Amazing food and very inexpensive. I highly recommend the casado con chuleta (pork chop) and the casado with the chicken stew. Both were amazing!

The place was recommended to us by one of our Uber drivers. It’s very reasonably priced. Menu offered a big selection of traditional Costa Rican dishes and fresh fruit smoothies. Portions are huge and tasty. The place got packed very quickly, so it was a good thing we got there slightly before the lunch rush.

We tried out the pollo con Casado but the part that confused us was the noodle and beans together in the dish interesting mix . We tried it thought it was good until we later got sick from it . Maybe just stick with the water at that restaurant

This is a solid soda joint. Nothing fancy but fresh food and fair prices. Service was kind and efficient. My wife got a “typical” chicken lunch that was good and a large portion. I got a dish that consisted of a sausage that’s similar to kielbasa, tortilla and a cabbage salad.

There's really nothing I didn't like about this place! From the structure, to the seats at the counter or obviously to the kitchen! The soda la hormiga is authentically Tica, I ate my first casado here and enjoyed it very much after hours of walking in the sun. Super honest price, I recommend it 100%!!!

Well priced Soda with outside seating. Limited vegetarian options but for a filling local breakfast it is great. We visited a couple of times to fill up before hiking and I'd recommend it as a great cheap option in La Fortuna.
