OK, it's a hike to get there but worth it. And if you go on a weekend, expect a wait for a table. Once seated and drinks are ordered, look over the menu. I'm sure there are lots of thing that will tempt you but forget all those and order the pork chop (chuleto). It's the best in Costa Rica... More

This restaurant is in the middle of nowhere, it rains a lot in this area, eating under the sound of the rain is magical. The food is not great, but again it is wotrh it.

For those of us who grew up eating patacones, tortillas and frijoles molidos, Chubascos is simply top of the line. They have taken traditional tico fare to a new level. And the place and its surroundings are very nice too.

This is a great place to stop for coffee or lunch enroute to/from Volcan Poaz and LaPaz Gardens & Waterfalls. Try the empanada sampler, or a traditional plate of rice and beans!

This place is fantastic. And I've been to a lot of Costa Rican restaurants. This is some of the best Comida Typica that I have found anywhere. The portions were very healthy. It's a little pricier than in some places but totally worth it. You will not be disappointed.

This is a very traditional place in Costa Rica. First off, do try the Tortilla Aliñada, a nice local delicacy and they know how to make it (if you like cheese, get it with extra cheese). Then enjoy the local cuisine, and most of all, get great service that will make you feel like you are part of their family.

It's a must for every time I go to CR. Their staff is super helpful and patient. I traveled with my husband and 6 nieces and they were amazing. The food never disappoints. If you go, I doubt you would say it wasn't worth it. It has a trail down to a river right next to it and a big... More

This restaurant had come very well recommended to us by a friend, but I found it to be a let down. The location was very beautiful and service was fine. The menu had a good selection, but the food was not worth the price. I think I paid around 6,000 colones (around $12 USD) for a sub par casado plate.... More

Had a wonderful lunch with my family. The food (local/tipica) was great, the place very nice and service excellent. A must on your next visit to Poas Volcano!

Good food, little expensive and quite long line to get a table. They have typical Costa Rican dishes. It's really close to the Poas Volcano. Be aware that if you are in a hurry and/or lack patience, you will get a little annoyed by the amount of time you'll have to wait just to get a table 30-45mins (standing outside).

This restaurant had the best food and service of all the places where we ate in Costa Rica. Family owned and always on site. Cozy, very clean, and surrounded by beautiful vegetation. Friendly and helpful staff. I highly recommend the casados, a local dish - delicious! I ate it in other restaurants but it couldn't be compared to Chubascos. I swear I could eat that every day. For dessert, try the home made apple pie (Costa Rican apples) and the arroz con leche. Ah, and do not forget to try their natural fruit drinks. Their coffee is pretty good too.
