Excellent local food with ok prices. The place is very nice and it even has a trail to a nearby waterfall.

We kept saying we would try this place half way up The Poas volcano & were not disappointed. About 30 mins from central Alajuela & on the left hand side going up.Much cooler than Alajuela at the bottom so bring a warm top. The setting is lovely, overlooking a lawn & wooded area. Fantastic & very filling pancakes & a... More

My family and I discovered this beautiful place on our way back from a day of canopy in "Colinas del Poás" in Alajuela Province. The place is magical, beautiful with cabins in case you want to stay the night. The food served here is "typical" Costa Rican food and is delicious!! I can't wait to come back to Costa Rica... More

Chubascos is a great place to eat after a visit to Poas Volcano. There is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating for parties large and small, and a playground for kids. The waitstaff were all friendly and helpful. Of a particularly special and unique note, while we had a leisurely Sunday lunch with many young women in their 20’s, the... More

Mostly cooked over woodstove, this restaurant really holds a tradition of great family cooking using farm to table ingredients, without the high price tag of the modern pretentious cuisine. Really recommended for lunch and enjoyment of the gardens and great desserts.

A must stop after a visit to the Volcano Poas. The service was fast and friendly. We traveled in a large group of two families and they graciously agreed to split the bill. The Black Bean soup was amazing as was my Strawberry smoothy. And the grounds were loaded with birds! Everyone loved their meals.

Good selection for sampling the local fare! The appetizers were delicious. We had the guacamole. Also I always recommend washing it down with an Imperial!

Perfect place to visit in Costa Rica. Great rain forest enviroment, so close to Poas Volcano. Excellent costarican food. Besides: green area to play with kids, access to local rain forest to visit a small river, and if you want, local rooms to stay the night. Good parking area. *usually the restaurant is full at lunch time, so u have... More

When I go to the Poas volcano I stop here, I even had a team building here, where everybody loved the food, the service, the green area where we made the activities and the restaurant. I tried to eat something different in each visit and until now they have the best tortilla aliñada and the best empanada de platano

This is a very typical Costa Rica restaurant, you will find everything traditional it is a bit of drive but it's well worth the trip, the service is excellent but get there in plenty of time if ho for lunch as does get busy. This definitely worth another visit before we go back to home to England 😜😋😊😊😊👍👍👍👍👌🏻👌🏻

This restaurant had the best food and service of all the places where we ate in Costa Rica. Family owned and always on site. Cozy, very clean, and surrounded by beautiful vegetation. Friendly and helpful staff. I highly recommend the casados, a local dish - delicious! I ate it in other restaurants but it couldn't be compared to Chubascos. I swear I could eat that every day. For dessert, try the home made apple pie (Costa Rican apples) and the arroz con leche. Ah, and do not forget to try their natural fruit drinks. Their coffee is pretty good too.
