My husband and I met friends for dinner this weekend. The menu looked better than the food. The wine list was limited but OK. I had paella and thought it was much more less dense than it sould be, it was watery. It was served...pipping hot which is always a plus for me. My husband had the spaghetti because the server made the meatballs sound fabulous. He thought they were good but did not quite live up to expectations. One friend has the spare ribs and thought they were really good. Another had the fish special, pan seared snapper. She really liked it. The cranberry cake my husband and I shared with was really very good. The bread... No words.. Garlic bread served hot... Yum! My husband and I ordered a bottle of Malbec which was never served. I mentioned the wine to the server over half way through the meal and she came back with 2 glasses. Later she did tell my husband she was sorry she had totally messed that up. It was very busy. We would eat there again and enjoy. Try it!More

A gastronomic jewel in Vestavia Hills. Fresh food with creative menu. Tonight had the scallops and my wife had the fresh gulf fish. Started the evening with crafted cocktails, Lemon Drop and Nico’s Smash. Starter with heirloom Tomatoes and shared the market salad. Great service...from Lance. All ye In Vestavia and beyond must delight in the wonderful dining locale!More

We enjoyed a wonderful dinner here while visiting Birmingham. Evening got off to a slow start - had to wait a while even though we had a reservation. Server seemed a bit frazzled at first (like so many places now, they were short-staffed) but she...rallied and did a fine job. The food was excellent: shrimp/scallops with risotto, gnocchi with chorizo bolognese, lobster ravioli. Portions were very generous! I would definitely recommend Bistro V.More

One of the first times I have eaten inside an actual restaurant in a while with my wife. Had reservations and was seated immediately. Noticed upon entering that there was a sign at the door that requested parties only stay in the restaurant for an...hour and 15 minutes due to the amount of reservations they get. Apps, we got the calamari, oysters and shrimp and they are very tasty. I got the pan seared snapper over a grit cake and my wife got the chicken capellini. Both were cooked perfectly and tasted great. We ended with the bread pudding with ice cream (shared it) was not disappointed. Would definitely return and recommend this place to friends. So glad they have been able to weather the last year and remain open.More

Dinner date with my beautiful wife this evening and we enjoyed a great meal. Fun to dress up a little and take in a local gem. The appetizer of fried green tomatoes with pimento cheese, salad and chunks of bacon was a very good start....My wife went with the shrimp and grits and I tried the scallops on grits with spinach. Both entrees were delicious. The warm fresh bread is good. Katherine provided excellent service. No room for dessert. Highly recommend.More

Visiting on a Friday evening, we saw the popularity of Bistro V - A packed restaurant. They offer very good food and service, with pricing reasonable for the value. We enjoyed the overall experience, with seafood, beef, and pasta entrees all prepared with creativity and...great taste. Decor could use some pizzazz.but the food and service are excellent.More

Great Neighborhood Restaurant...a bit upscale, a bit trendy, gourmet southern food. I don’t come here enough- it’s been awhile. Always crowded. A reservation might be a good idea during the week- a ‘must’ on weekends. Bustley. Loud with conversation as people come here to share...a meal with friends after work, with family. We ordered Scallops- served over creamy grits with sautéed spinach- sprinkled with pine nuts and sultanas. Delish! My guest had crab cakes and said they were quite good. Plenty of food. Main courses run +/- $20.More

This is my favorite restaurant in Vestavia Hills. Very good food, very nice interior, nice atmosphere, great bar and wine, but I've never had the deserts. Salads, steaks, seafood, pasta - it's all good. Uses fresh gulf seafood and Conecuh sausage.

Great food! Great service! Casual atmosphere and generous portions. Not pricey. I had Bibb salad with fried oysters. Great! Hubby got roast beef and said it was pretty good, but he would get something different next time.

A bunch of friends came here for lunch the other day because we had heard some great things about it. We were given the menu's immediately and gave our drink order. We promptly then ordered our lunch. We were given a bread plate with the...most delicious dipping sauce, made out of lemon, garlic and butter. We all fell in love with the baguette and dipping sauce!! I had ordered a Turkey Panini and it was great as was the cup of Tomato Basil Soup which I paid happily for the upcharge. My friends shared bites of their fried onion strips and homemade sweet potato fries that came with their Shrimp Po-Boys and Open Faced Roast Beef sandwich. The portions were very generous and many of my friends brought 1/2 of their sandwich's home. Our Server was good but I never caught her name. We arrived @ 11:00 am and I was grateful as the place filled up quickly at lunch. I definitely want to take my sweet hubby to this place because it was a great experience!!More

After a disastrous visit a few years ago, we decided to give this place another shot, mainly because we has an unused gift card tbh. This time however, it was a completely different experience. The food was very good, service was fine, so I felt...like I should update a bad review left from a bad experience last time.More
