For two people we waited a long time to get in for Sunday brunch since they don't take reservation. The restaurant looked like it was a large house converted into a business, and couldn't handle a large rush like the one we were in. Seating was very tight and the place was noisy (you'll unintentionally eavesdrop on neighboring tables). We... More

The Wayside is an institution in Tuscaloosa and our expectations were high prior to our first visit. We both ordered typical breakfast food, and we were very disappointed. The food was average at best, and the coffee was terrible. Our first visit was also our last visit.

If you're in Tuscaloosa and wanting a good breakfast, stop by Waysider. It's a little place that it hidden off the side of Greensboro Ave. When you arrive just find the right place to park (can be a bit tricky if you've never been.) Love their biscuits & gravy (without the sausage for me), grits, and pancakes. Sweet little set... More

If you are familiar with Tuscaloosa at all you know about breakfast at the Waysider. Homemade drop biscuits and molasses, country ham , redeye gravy, blueberry pancakes, bacon and eggs, the best baby link sausage you'll ever eat and those fresh hot beignet that Miss Linda cooks up and they bring to your table as a little surprise are an... Finally got to go eat at The Wayside. Coworkers have raved about their breakfast. So the kids and I went. It's a small red house that has been turned into a restaurant. It maybe held 20 to 25 people. The staff was nice. The decor was a shrine to Alabama Football but it's an old house so it is cramped.... More

Great breakfast! wonderful atmosphere. The waitress was great and kept the biscuits and juice coming. The only issue was it was a little small.

We were recommended to go here since Bear Bryant ate there every morning. We went there to start our morning out right for our son to go to Alabama's Specialist Camp. The special was the Western Omelette so my husband got that. Wow! The tomato gravy with biscuits was to die for!

This is one of my favorite places to go in Tuscaloosa. It is such a charming place with friendly staff. You must have the biscuits!! All of the breakfast food is outstanding but the lunch food is too. It is worth the hour + wait. Go early on busy weekends to avoid the wait. The yeast rolls at lunch are... More

The Waysider is one of the oldest restaurants in Tuscaloosa. There are only 16 tables in the restaurant. The biscuits are light and fluffy and plentiful. Service is always good. The menu is full of Southern favorites. The wait for a table is well worth it.

Ate breakfast many times at this quaint, small restaurant. Excellent menu choices. Always a wait because it is popular and close to University of Alabama. Friendly staff. A little pricey but worth it. Parking is limited and need to park in the back.
