I grew up here and my grandparents used to take us to Bayleys for special occasions when they lived down the bay in the 60s and 70s. Back then, the fried shrimp were my favorite. Nowadays, they're still wonderful, but their gumbo is some of the best I've found anywhere. So are their oysters, however you choose to have them.... More

Hoping to find this a great little hole in the wall place. All 4 of us were underwhelmed with our meals. Perhaps because we got there after a big party but our fried okra were lukewarm, my fried shrimp were okay, fried oysters were just okay. Slaw was excellent.

Out of the way place, but very good. Very friendly staff! Just a small mom and pop place. Get the onion rings...you won't be sorry!

If you are looking for a fine dining experience this is not the place although they do have cloth napkins. If you want good seafood than look no further. The restaurant is old and the decor is even older, please overlook this and concentrate on the food. Everyone at the table thought the same thing – this is the best... More

We have eaten here quite a number of times---whenever we are going to or coming from Dauphin Island---and we have ALWAYS been happy with both the food and the service. This last visit we were lucky enough to meet and spend some time with the owner and his wife. They were kind enough to tour us through the kitchen and... More

Looking at the menu prices you would expect it to be a fine dining restaurant, but it is far from that. My wife had to use the restroom, she said you have to walk through the kitchen to get to it. She said the kitchen was very dirty and she said the bathroom looked like a converted utility closet. The... More

Not sure what I was expecting, but still was disappointed. We were only one of two tables on a Thur night, which in such a large place seemed empty. The server was very pleasant and food was decent, although I thought overpriced for what you got. I had the stuffed crab and it was just ok; my husband had the... More

They were out of so many items it became a joke at our table. They did not even try to be accommodating. The cleanliness of the bathrooms was awful. Had I see the bathrooms prior to eating, I would have high tailed it out! It did make for a funny memorable experience!

Bailey's is well known by locals for " delicious fish & grits" served on Wednesday. The fresh fried mullet, home made tartar & cocktail sauce are the best I've every had. It's the best place in the area for fresh fried LOCAL seafood from Flounder, Shrimp & the Wednesday " Fish & Grits".

OK, we had to try the West Indies salad because Bayley's is the birthplace. I guess you might have to grow up on this to appreciate it. The crab was nice and fresh, but the marinade just didn't have any taste. Salad was $7.95. We had the Tuesday night special of "All you can eat Shrimp" and Fried Oyster dinners.... More
