Sitting on a bay in Mobile, this typical fish house is anything but typical where the food is concerned. Whether you choose fried or grilled, the seafood is fresh and is prepared perfectly. This visit I chose the combo of fire grilled oysters and fried...More

Don’t order the fish. Trigger fish bayou. They were nice and recooked it but by the time it came dinner was over. No discount no free desert. For a 25 dollar dinner unacceptable.

We enjoyed our lunch. The food was above average and at a good price. The best part was being next to the window overlooking the marsh/river. I doubt any of the food came from there, but it added to the experience. Bonus points to the...More

We used to go to Felix, but wanted something different and hit the Oyster House on our way back to Pensacola. Chargrilled oysters brought us in, and chargrilled oysters thrilled our hearts. We love the gritty crust, the rich buttery Parmesan flavor, and the combination...More

Large group went to the Original Oyster House on the Causeway and the food was outstanding!! We particularly likes the stuffed crab, crab cakes and fried shrimp. Sadly, their gumbo was just okay, obviously thickened with corn starch. Service was great and we’ll be back!!!

Casual dining atmosphere with good food and friendly servers. Their specialty is roasted oysters but we had other items. Menu has a good selection of seafood.

Opening its first location in Gulf Shores in 1983, the Original Oyster House restaurant quickly expanded and opened its second restaurant two years later on the Mobile Causeway. It soon became known as a Gulf Coast favorite for panoramic waterfront sunsets on the Mobile Delta, fresh Gulf Coast seafood and award-winning gumbo. Classics such as hand-battered fried crab claws, blackened Mahi and fire-grilled Gulf oysters kept locals and visitors coming back for more. A visit usually includes kids on the playground, seafood platters and Southern hospitality. Along with its take-out, homemade desserts and seafood gumbo, the Original Oyster House has been sending alligators home in kid's meals, and gives back to our community in sponsorships and donations. It has been recognized for its environmental practices including converting its fry oil into biofuel to transport, its solar water heaters and the only wind turbine on the Causeway, which generates electricity when winds reach 8 miles an hour or more. in 2016, the Original Oyster House piloted Alabama's FIRST Oyster Shell Recycling Program.
