I would have gone with 3.5 stars if it were an option. Visited Jean Georges a few days ago. I first noticed that many of the folks there early were dressed quite poorly. Sweatshirts and tracksuits ruled the early part of the evening. I think they should enforce a dress code a bit more and keep these folks in Nougatine.... More

Dinner at Jean Georges in Shanghai was excellent. It is in 3 on the Bund, so you have beautiful views of the Bund. The menus are set; I thilnk there were 3 choices. Plenty of food, but not too much that you walk away stuffed. It is pricey, about $165/person with a glass of wine each, but incredible.

We had our 10th wedding anniversary celebration there last night. Food and atmosphere were really exceptional. The tasting menu is a gastronomic feast and exceeded our expectations. It comes at a price though, but there is value in the offering. The food is raised to a level of culinary art. The wine list sadly, is difficult, bulky an over priced.... More

I had high expectations for Jean Georges that simply were not met. I had the most expensive tasting menu that runs around $300 for 7/8 courses. The restaurant boasts a 3 Michelin Star chef, but it appears that with 20 restaurants in the Jean Georges portfolio the chef is not really part of the experience a this Three On The... More

This is one of our favorite restaurants in Shanghai and last night's experience was no exception. The service here is truly top-notch and many other restaurants in Shanghai would do well to learn from them. My wife and I both decided on the foie gras brûlée with pistachios and sour cherries and it was very good. The next course of... More

very nice place, and delicious food. The price is very expensive, but could be the best French cuisine in town.

One of the gastronomic jewels of THREE ON THE BUND, this is the oriental flagship of the great Michelin 3-Star chef who is based in New York City, but whose tentacles reach into many corners of the globe. To reach the inner sanctuary of luxury, one has first to pass through a more basic and affordable eatery also operated by... More

Very nice restaurant with great food, nice views (unless it's smoggy) and very good service. Both visits have been memorable experiences and there was nothing left to be desired. If you can go for the lunch/brunch deals, it's great value. If you go in the evenings, the bill shows why food and service were excellent.

Again one of the few places that offer fairly decent food in Shanghai. The food was tasty. Service is good. When we visited, it was very quiet, so not much of an ambiance but nice setting.

Staying in The Bund

Neighborhood Profile
The Bund
While there are certainly many other “bunds” in the world, “the Bund” refers to Shanghai’s famous waterfront. The area’s Gothic, Art Deco and Beaux Arts monoliths were built when it was part of the Shanghai International Settlement run by the British and Americans. The atmosphere of colonial-era luxury has endured over time and is now found in the five-star hotels, luxury brand boutiques and expensive restaurants that can be found within the historic buildings. A cultural center has built up away from the water and some of Shanghai’s best art galleries and museums are housed close to the Bund. Nighttime views of Pudong and the rest of the city also make for a great backdrop at the many rooftop clubs.
