I saw some people taking high tea in the afternoon, which looked fun, and to just sit for a quiet meeting is fine, but the coffee was terrible and expensive, and the service very slow. They also still allow smoking, which isn't ideal.

If you would spend up to 1 hour for an single expresso - this is your place. The most important work for service members is to check we chat. During one week no manager present. One of the badest lobby bars within China. So sorry to say but its right.

This is on the river side, bright, wide, comfortable. Smoking allowed inside! If you are a non smoker, you should check around for avoiding smoke. Menu is ok, I ordered a Chinese tea and paid 178 RMB ~ 25 USD.

Have been to the lobby lounge a few times over the years and it is generally ok for a quick meeting. The place can get quite noisy depending on the time of year, occupancy rate and if conventions are in progress. Note that part of the lounge still caters to smokers in case you are sensitive to cigarette/cigar smoke. If... More

We had an important but informal business meeting and chose here, it was perfect. The service was great, relaxed by attentive. The layout is very good and here is a choice of different seating. We only had tea and coffee, but coffee was very good. Perfect setting and friendly staff.

The Shangri-La Lobby Lounge is a good and elegant place to sit and have a cup of coffee as well as some small delicacies. Chairs are comfortable and staff are super friendly. Music there is calm and sets the mood well. The only thing that I would comment on are that the pastries were a bit too sweet for my... More

Last wednesday, I went to the Shangri-La, to enjoy their afternoon tea service and high level of service. I invited my friend, a veteran Hyatt HR Trainer from Dubai, and most recently Bangalore with Marriott, with me at the Grand Tower Lobby Lounge. We have had several afternoon teas in Shanghai, notably the Park Hyatt, The Peninsula, The Intercontinental Shanghai... More

Located in the River Wing of the Pudong Shangri-la Hotel, the Lobby Lounge has high ceiling with huge crystal chandeliers. On its left side are seats for smokers whilst the right side is strictly non-smoking. At its middle by the glass curtain wall sit a grand piano and a harp, and this evening the white haired young pianist's solo repertoire... More

Good place to have a cup of coffee with light and early lunch. Signature sandwich was well presented together with the coffee and tea. Comfortable chairs and abundant natural light. Inexperienced and forgetful though well mannered waitress was understaffed on the day. Menu says food only available after 12 but orders were accepted at 11:15 while food arrives in 10... More

We decided to try the afternoon tea to experience for ourselves what friends had been posting. The menu was creative and presentation was good but food was very slow in coming out. Our tea time took a long time. Overall i would say it was ok but not wow.

Staying in Lujiazui

Neighborhood Profile
When people speak of Shanghai’s futuristic skyline, it’s the financial district of Luiazui they are speaking of. Shanghai’s most iconic buildings are located in close proximity to Lujiazui’s elevated ring road and swanky eateries. Sky-high shopping and chic bars fill the highrises around the area. As is characteristic of a world-class financial business district, some of Shanghai’s best malls and hotels can be found in the neighborhood. While everyone on the famous Bund side of the river gazes in awe at these amazing structures, all the buildings here, as well as Lujiazui’s riverside promenade, offer great views of the historic buildings all along the Puxi side. The Lujiazui park often hosts music festivals throughout the year, and park goers can party and stroll in the shadow of some of the world’s tallest buildings.
