When a celebrity chef plays with the pallete of the discerning guest, you know he is on a rocky, downhill road. Jean Georges how can you pass of thinly sliced Avocado and Lime on a flat bread as Pizza. We also had the Beef carpaccio....The Ingredients are so off and to hide the lack of flavour everything is just douse in lime! Michelin, how can you continue to honour this poor shadow of what was a decent restaurant a couple of years agoMore

Made a reservation for two people asking to keep a table near the window. Even if one table was free and another one was getting free, we were not seated as per reservat. Ordered some appetizers to be served all together, we were brought the...first appetizer after 10 minutes, the second appetizer (burrata) after 20 minutes and the focaccia after one hour. A complete disaster on the seevice level. Food is quality was ok, but the proce is totally unjustified.More

First, I did the 1488¥ set menu thinking I would get the best of the best for a 7 course meal. - bad choice on my end. Second, I took the waiters recommendation on a bottle of white wine. - he chose poorly. Third, they...brought the courses one at a time and in a timely manner. Nothing jumped out at me and had zero wow factor. Only thing was the seafood pasta had no sauce and was bland with zero flavor. I tried it but won’t go back - the view is amazing and that’s all.More

A buzzy italian restaurant by michelin french chef jean georges Tables too close to each other and staff too detached and hurried, didn’t feel any good welcome A few very good dishes - truffle pizza, seafood salad and panna cotta Good dishes - roast chicken,...cod and salmon tartare Not overpriced but not excellent eitherMore

Loved our meal at Mercator. The service was excellent and the views are amazing. The food was exceptional, although on the pricey side

We have dined at Mercato several times and each meal has been excellent & delicious. Staff service has been attentive and excellent. Servers have been knowledgeable about menu as well as wine men & speak English. Reservations can be (and should be made) easily made...via telephone or email. Portion sizes adequate & items served timely & proper temperatures. Menu selection decent and made with fresh ingredients. A variety of seafood, pasta, woodier pizzas, along with beef & pork options available. Location, excellent. Dining space offers several types of seating including tables, sitting near the kitchen area or a more casual "bar type" seating as well as private rooms. Decorations with rustic dark woods & glass works well, simple & understated. Restrooms have always been well maintained. Few observations: tends to be dark inside making it a challenge to read menu, but that maybe to show off lights along The Bund, the temperature inside tends to be warm with little airflow, so dress in layers and traffic becomes congested after 17:00 so plan travel accordingly. Mercato is one of our favorites here in Shanghai. Perfect for couples, business dinners, or a group of friends.More

The quality of the food is very good. The kingfish carpaccio needed a little pepper to enhance it but we were very positively surprised by the crispy skin chicken, by far the best dish we had. The portion are quite limited, but you will feel...satisfied at the end of the dinner ( also because the bread is good). The risotto was a little overcooked but I guess it is because most of the guests are Chinese and this is the way they like it (the waiter could have informed the kitchen we were foreigners and even worse Italians, but that would require a different level of service (which was decent). Also, a little too much butter but that is explained by the fact the chef is French. In summary It would have been a very good experience if it was not for the music (too loud and not adequate to the ambience ) and to the absolutely too low temperature (why you should like to eat at 18C?). We left without coffee and liquors because we were freezing . The view is very special.More

Mercado is the best Italian restaurant in Shanghai! My fave was the truffle pizza with egg and set menu was delicious. It is expensive but worth it for a special occasion!

Went there with friends and was not disappointed, an interesting Menu selection, the ricotta and calamari salad were excellent. Interesting selection of pizzas. Dessert portion are large and good for sharing. Cocktails were somewhat disappointing with more ice than drink.

Firstly I need to be clear that this restaurant serves consistently good food. I just believe that it needs to re-learn some customer service and perhaps dare I say it humility. I do not like waiting for 30-40 mins in the bar for a confirmed...reservation ( happened on a number of occasions) On this latest occasion with 12 people, we were told to pay a deposit for the booking, no problem ...then we were told we need to be sat in the private room, again ok ...then a call that there is a minimum charge, again ok as 12 people would easily exceed this ....then another call .....because you are 12 people you need a set menu. Thank you enough is enough -- I will take my custom elsewhere, with the comment that no matter how good you are or perceive yourself to be, there are normally alternatives, and in Shanghai, we are lucky to have many.More
