I spent my Sunday eating brunch at Alaina and let me tell you it's worth the new menu and drink specials. For an extra 98 RMB you can enjoy free flow drinks with your meal. Have fun!

Kaiba has a large selection of good beers. It was nice to sit on the patio and people watch. Most of the beers are from abroad.

I went plenty of time in Kaiba in Tianzifang (they have 3 locations in total and they are going to open more) for lunch/dinner and meeting with friends. You can eat nice burgers and above all drink good beers. They have a really good selection and they promote a free flow for 3 hours paying a small amount.

A large group of expats went here for Free Flow brunch. Starts at 1130am and they don't kick you out until 330pm. All you can drink Stella beer (and other types). It was about 190RMB and included a breakfast entree. I had eggs Benedict and it was yummy. Service was slow but there was like 20 of us.

I remember coming here at the beginning of the summer to say goodbye to a friend who was moving for a new job and I always remembered about going back. On a Sunday cool evening it was nice to have a great beer with a snack as the week was coming to an end. Chill spot.

Great variety of Belgian beers at reasonable price, and they also serve food. With the beer you get a nice portion of Belgian fries. I mean Belgian, not the French fries.

I have visited Kaiba several times. I go there to enjoy their Belgian beers. Beer selection is excellent and they do stock also other than Belgian beers. Last time I had a bottle of awesome strong ale from the US. Their food is not as interesting. Pizza is pretty average. Fries are so so. Mussels are ok. Service in Kaiba... More

On Friday, April 24th, the Austen Morris Associates team went out to have a celebration for our first quarterly meeting of the year at Kaiba in Tiaikang Terrace. We had a great time eating and drinking at Kaiba. The outdoor porch set a relaxing atmosphere for the social event. Although Kaiba is located in Tianzifang, don't worry about experiencing noisy... Kaiba has been one of the catalysts in bringing better beer to China. Starting in 2009 at the original Kangding Lu location, this is one of the three locations in Shanghai, and for me the best because of the small patio. This Kaiba is inside of a residential area butting up against the touristy Tianzifang area. It may require a... More

Description
. In 2008, 2009 and 2011, Kaiba has opened 3 locations under its own name. Kaiba, Belgian Beer Bar, Kaiba, Belgian Beer Garden and Kaiba Tap House. All of these locations are focused on bringing the tradition, quality and selection of Belgian Beer to Shanghais undeserved premium beer market, encouraging choice and quality in a welcoming and comfortable environment that meets the needs of Chinese and Expats.

The position we have taken for our first concepts is in the premium import beer market, provided customers with the opportunity to experience the largest selection of highest quality beers available in Shanghai.

Staying in Former French Concession

Neighborhood Profile
Former French Concession
While there are technical borders to the area formerly governed by the French in Shanghai, the "French Concession" of today is an amorphous neighborhood that is a favorite of the city's foreign residents. While it is mostly within the Xuhui district, residents will sometimes include parts of Jing'an and Luwan in their mental maps of the Former French Concession. The area seems frozen in time, characterized by quiet, tree-lined avenues, French-style villas, interesting boutiques, lively bars and quaint cafes that are not typical of China. All of these mix and mingle with local life as Chinese markets and lanehouse communities are peppered throughout. Denizens of the Former French Concession can spectate a mahjong game on the street or get their bike checked at a tiny bike repair store on the way to their refurbished apartment tucked away among Chinese family homes.
