The recommended dish - braised pork in brown sauce (can't remember the exact name) was really good. It can get pretty crowded during lunch time, so perhaps you might want to go earlier for brunch instead. The only down thing was that there's only one serving size, which is quite big. So can't order too many items.

Had read a number of earlier reviews and decided to give it a try. Not disappointed. Extensive menu with some interesting choices. Portions are big so don't order too many, as we did! Great place to eat with English shown on the menu. Would thoroughly recommend.

Based on Trip Advisor reviews I had planned on visiting Grandmothers before our trip, but was even more impressed after our meal. Service was excellent and the food even better. We sat next to another American visiting Shanghai and after seeing the huge menu with all the pictures, he remarked, this is just like Dennnys, you can get anything here!"... More

Good Shanghai food, decent prices and a menu with English and pictures for those who don't speak Chinese. Also, an easy walk from the Bund! Try the xiaolongbao and the tea shrimp. Tons of good noodle dishes too.

Very good place to enjoy some typical chinese food and foods from Shanghai with friends. Round tables with turnable centre so everyone around the table can share and enjoy the dishes that have been ordered. Very good prices as well, and the food is of superb quality !

This place is an excellent option for foreigners to try local flavors from China in an ambience that is more western-friendly. Menu is in English, with plenty of photos, prices are accessible. Food is good.

We wanted a place to go while we were close to the Bund and we utilized my Lonely Planet Shanghai book and found this place. The place was definitely busy when we walked in so we took a slip of paper and waited. Luckily, it was a 10 minute wait for a Sunday night around 6:45 PM. We ordered the... More

I decided to try this restaurant after a friend advice, and was absolutely amazed by the tasty food they serve at average prices. Very close to the Bund and with a great variety of meals. Strongly recommend!

Staying in The Bund

Neighborhood Profile
The Bund
While there are certainly many other “bunds” in the world, “the Bund” refers to Shanghai’s famous waterfront. The area’s Gothic, Art Deco and Beaux Arts monoliths were built when it was part of the Shanghai International Settlement run by the British and Americans. The atmosphere of colonial-era luxury has endured over time and is now found in the five-star hotels, luxury brand boutiques and expensive restaurants that can be found within the historic buildings. A cultural center has built up away from the water and some of Shanghai’s best art galleries and museums are housed close to the Bund. Nighttime views of Pudong and the rest of the city also make for a great backdrop at the many rooftop clubs.
