years of restaurant at the city centre, the restauant provides traditional Shanghai food. The little meat bun and the noodle is a must to try. If you go at autumn, lake crab should be the core of your order. Pls book before go, always busy and full. Services is average but this is what traditional food is!

The food on the picture resembles something I saw when a guy emptied his stomach on the Shanghai no 1 metro line

This place is very average. The food is nothing special and very generic Chinese. The prices though are fairly reasonable. The best thing about the place is the decor. There are plenty of much better Chinese choices.

Very nice mandarin fish with noodles, very tasty (pork and crab) meatballs and terrific hot and sour soup. The green beans also were very nice.

good place for non-picky eaters. The one in Pudong Zhangyang Lu is good enough to take a try. Melongzheng is specialized in the local shanghaiese food

Don't bother coming to this restaurant because it was mentioned in some travelers guide or what so ever, environment and ambience is bad, food is so so, perhaps their glorious days were long gone. Me n my husband went to this restaurant for dinner tonight because I was fancied by its fame, however I had the biggest disappointment, food we... More

The first view across a courtyard of this restaurant is a comically grand floodlit façade built into the corner of the building. We opened the menu to find a set of house rules-- no outside alcohol, a list of nuisance charges for a small towel, a preprandial refreshment plate, and plain rice (2, 4, and 3 yuan respectively), and the... Well, shanghaiese cuisine is famous for it's strong flavors. This place just does not measure up. The braised fish was overly oily, The smoked duck was lackluster and dry, and the soup dumplings were flat and little soggy. The location and decor suggests traditional Chinese style, but the glaring lights and the gaudy bright color make its feel like a... More

Biggest disappointment in Shanghai. Over priced and definitely not worth it. Waaaay past its prime. Spring rolls were the worst I've ever had, in or outside of China. Hairy crab was quite good. Staff was all about standing around, talking and staring at the diners. No one here cares about the customer. Though it was clear I spoke no Chinese,... More

A classic Shanghainese restaurant in a lovely old house on Nanjing Road (formerly the 1930s headquarters of the Chinese Communist Party). Staff are rather brusque and the dining rooms lack natural light, but the decor is grand and the food excellent. All credit cards accepted.
