Yu Garden is lovely, and this restaurant is quite a classic. We were amazed at the way the food was presented - rich and creative

Joined the tourist hordes lining-up at the take-out counter at the side of the restaurant. The broth was just okay. Not really worth the line.

This restaurant is situated in the heart of beautiful Yu Garden. Even if catering primarily to tourists, the food was authentic Shanghainese. With us at dinner was a native from the Shanghai area and she agreed with us that the food was good and authentic,...even if somewhat commercialized. The interior was very nice and the wait staff friendly and helpful. The wait staff was prompt with their service ... tea pot kept filled, empty dishes promptly removed and replaced with clean ones, etc. Prices were reasonable. Pictures of famous guests hung on the walls of the stairs leading to the second floor, e.g. U.S. and Chinese presidents, etc.More

Dumplings the kids had earlier, did not last long and they were hungry for lunch. This restaurant stood out in its traditional architecture overlooking the Yu Yuan garden water features. Looked nice and looked pricey. Honestly, i would have preferred a street side stall. But...given the kids were getting grumpy, we just gave this place a shot. They gave us a private room which was cosy and fancy. Could not afford something like this in my country - so, that was a great experience for the kids. Food was okay. Good for the experience which my kids rarely get. But, in my honest opinion, you could get better tasting food elsewhere at a cheaper price. The dumplings were the highlight. Juicy and soft.More

We went there last on Wednesday (couldn’t get a table the day before as President Xi was apparently dining there) with a couple of business associates. The atmosphere in the restaurant and surrounding areas was great and the dim sum was one of the best...I’ve tried in Shanghai.More

We tried this restaurant while visiting the Yu garden. The price and quality were very good. Most of the staff does not speak English but we had no problem ordering food and drinks, including a Tsingtao Stout beer! To be honest, for the location and...a Michelin recommendation, the price is beyond reasonable. Definitely recommend it!More

With Michelin Recommendation, we wanted to check this place out and see what the restaurant is. It is located in the middle of the tourist attraction, it may seem to be touristy or tourist trap but it's not. The pricing is reasonable too and dishes...are amazing. We ordered a number of dishes and drinks and we find that the price is actually not that expensive. Definitely try some crab dishes and some dimsum dumplings. We left with Happiest Tummy. Well recommended and a must try in the GardensMore

We heard about this resturant by name and surprisingly to see it in Yu Yuan. As we just been ripped off from HuXinTing, Lu Bo Lang do offer a better value of dining experience. We waited for more than 30 mins to be seated but...expecting longer wait for large group. Local people come here for birthday lunch or family gathering. We ordered some deserts which is very delicate and tasty.More

Lu Bo Lang is not a tourist trap inside of the trap that Yu Garden is. The restaurant has been awarded a Bib Gourmand, which should vouch for the quality. The place is large, modestly decorated, it is busy, noice and very, very charmingly Chinese....The food is top notch, service is stellar. Great lunch!More
