Tables are well spaced, dining room looks grand but dishes are not expensive unexpectedly. Our favorites are stir-fry green bean, yellow fish noodle. The stewed pork is their signature dish but we were too full to order it.

This restaurant is in beautiful villa. The food is authentic shanghainese food. We went with one of my friends who's shanghainese and this is one of her favourite restaurant with this type of cuisine. My favourite dishes were lotus roots, river shrimps and pork belly.

This is a wonderful restaurant. The old house has a beautiful ambiance and you can choose a table in a private dining room ( minimum charge per head) or enjoy the spacious dining area and excellent service.

Ate here with family last night and food was excellent. hong shao rou, braised steak, fried dumplings, smoked fish and fresh peas all stand out dishes. Location is in a old French house down a lane with a small garden - but you come here for the food. Recommend.

I take all my friends here for real authentic Shanghainess food that is well prepared and cooked with fresh ingredients. Located also in one of those traditional and classic Shanghainess Houses. The overall dining experience makes you feel like going back to the 30's.

We were here for the 15+ course banquet with a very large group of people. Food quality was top notch, presentation, flavours and cooking standard as you would find in an up market restaurant in many international cities. It was a very enjoyable, memorable experience and highly recommended.

Exceptionally well-prepared Shanghainese food - fried dishes were not greasy, spicy dishes were not searing - in a beautifully restored 1930's art deco villa. Lots of unusual and delicious specialities on the menu (I especially recommend the smoked fish), and you feel as if you're in the dining room of a rich trader in Shanghai's pre-war heyday. A marvellous experience,... More

I went with one female friend, which makes the ordering really difficult. The staff was kind enough to introduce a few dish that is well repute for people with the same nationality as us. I have had many Chinese food in my life, this place can definitely make the top 5 list. Like all Chinese Restaurant, not all dish they... More

Fu 1039 - great ambience in a renovated old villa. We walked in past the wooden staircase to discover a pianist playing old classics - touches like this just add to to the atmosphere. It was mostly local Shanghainese and their families dining so we felt as if we had made an authentic choice for local cuisine. The food was... More

Staying in Zhongshan Park

Neighborhood Profile
Zhongshan Park
The residential and commercial areas around the beautiful grounds of Zhongshan Park have never been considered particularly fashionable by a majority of Shanghai’s foreign residents, but plenty of expats do choose to live here. The park itself is a huge draw, providing a pocket of serenity in the middle of the metropolis. The area has its share of trendy shops with wares that can’t be found elsewhere, delicious restaurants with food ranging from fancy to affordable, and great hidden bars. Rents are also cheaper here than in other neighborhoods with the same conveniences. Aside from the obvious attractions, with its neighborhood fix-anything shops and pop-up street stalls that sell anything you need, you’ll never sacrifice Western comforts.
