This is the awful experience of a close friend: I am sharing my bad experiences working for Shanghai food company "Hunter Gatherer" to warn both prospective employees and customers. I was employed by Hunter Gatherer from March 2018 to October 2018; finally leaving after realising...that they would not provide me with the working visa they promised. HG took advantage of my situation: I worked long working days, holidays and weekends without compensation and in addition they under paid on what was agreed. On the inside I noticed the set conditions to be of a low standard (unsanitary conditions and negligence in the food manipulation). After I left the country they didn't pay out a large amount of salary owed and they disregarded me and my case when I try followed up on it. I’m not the first chef that works for HG under the wrong visa and treatment; therefore, I feel it my obligation to warn future employees and costumers. Thank you for your time and for sharing my story.More

I was there with 3 other friends and my experience alone was simply amazing. Although, you have to highly rely on your taste palette when it comes to making your own bowl. I made mine and it was tasty while my other friends were struggling...to find the perfect balance. If you know what you like or what goes together well in one bowl, you will love this place. :)More

Neither my friend or I were impressed-- as native Californians, this seemed like a wannabe Palo Alto restaurant that failed on executing. Weird flavor combinations, heavy handed with dressing... Would recommend going to Pure & Whole instead

I am referring to their newly opened branch opposite Wu Jiang Road, near Nanjing West Road Metro station. They do not serve meat or other main course dish if you go after 3 p.m. However, you can pick their salad dish. My nephew's wife and...myself picked the chicken dish, it stated on the menu that this is spicy, however, it is more the sour taste of Thai. You can also pick coconut rice or normal rice. The one who took our dish tacitly approved that the dish does not come with rice. However, we can ask them to give us rice too. They have fried lotus roots and favas in the salad which I think is quite special. It is quite huge portion really. I also picked their coconut water. It was not bad, not too sweet, but still have the smell of coconut. As this place is quite close to the place where I do my yoga in Plaza 66 on Friday afternoons, I am likely to come to this place for lunch when I got fed up with the salad in Starbucks coffee. The only complaint I have is that the air conditioning in this restaurant is too cold. The waiter was very nice, saw that we have a young kid, and kept on treating him with dragon fruits and also brownies.More

I love the buffet style of this delicious food. Now they have grilled Carvery meats, and they have bowls that you can construct with your favorite ingredients. The food quality is very very high. Good meats, good vegetables, and very nicely displayed. They have boutique...beers and drinks, and nice desserts that are of decent quality but not really the best I've had around town. The complaints i have is that this place apparently so into being "sustainable" and any other trendy buzzword that they have plastered all over the wall, that it's too hot to sit in the restaurant because they won't run the air conditioning at a reasonable temperature. Also the beers and other expensive drinks are not cold. How ridiculous is it to pay 40 RMB for a boutique beer and you can't even drink it cold. Despite the great food it's very difficult to convince yourself to go here on a hot day because it's not comfortable being in a warm restaurant and drinking warm drinks with your food.More

From the outside a modern clean trendy place with food laid out to chose from. It proved a little pricey and food was only moderate, ordering was complicated and service could have been a lot better.

I really liked this place. Went here on a very casual date and we had a good time. I like being able to pick individual things to eat in my bowl and I really liked the little market in the restaurant. It was definitely pricy...but I don't mind paying a little extra for farm-to-table food.More

Nice interior but the coffee would taste really good if served in a real coffee mug not a floppy paper cup, especially considering the price.

Just had lunch there on our way to Hay next door and it wasn't a remarkable experience at all. Took the staff (terrible english) quite some time to explain their system to us, but more importantly, the food (claimed to be all organic) wasn't too...tasty, BUT EXPENSIVE. They don't have facilities either, so no toilet, no hand washing ...More
