This place is a scam for tourist, absolutely over priced with terrible service....I paid 45 RMB for a bottle of Evian (33 CL), and the price of the same bottle become 65 RMB after 9.30 PM. Beverages change price after 9.30 PM, getting even more expensive, absolutely unacceptable. I asked a glass of tapped water and they refused at first,... More

The place has a real nice atmosphere and the design is great and so is the location. However, the location has its price. Half litre beer locally brewed RMB 80 + tax is not cheap, but for the location it can be justified. The food, however, is absolutely disgusting. Living in Shanghai, I will continue to have beers there, but... More

Very tasty food, cold beer and being in Shanghai was great. We took a ferry to get to the side of the river where this restaurant is located

During a recent 15 day trip through China we found this place by cheer fluke. A large flag "Munich Beer seit 1931" took our attention. 20 of went there for dinner and no surprise, every one loved it. I was the only one born and raised in Germany and can honestly say, this was the best german food I experienced... More

Food and beer are overpriced. Definite tourist trap. Beer is very good though. There are better options around in the area.

This place has been talk of the town for years since the establishment of Xin Ten Dee. Recently, due to the resettlement of the property, there are more choices adjacent and is not so crowded as before. Honestly, this is a place of memory only. Nothing to be unusual. For food, is junk food. For Beer, is the same as... More

Yes, Xintiandi is originally a French Construction! But now it has many restaurants from all over the world. But one of the steady, long existing Restaurants is the Paulaner Brauhaus here, while others are coming and leaving... You can rely on German Beer (Careful, it is stronger than the Chinese Beer!) and on the Bavarian Food served here, good quality,... More

Nice property. They have a kids play area which is convenient. Your kid has to be an MMA fighter to play there. The food is very mediocre at best and over priced. I won't go back.

All German food and good quality. Place is Always full and they have live music. Good mix of locals, expats and tourists visiting. Went to the Pualnare in Xintinadi, surrounded by many other bars and restaurants for a night out.

I went to this place twice and twice I came to the same result,.... I paid too much for bad service and poor food! My wife is German so I know how the food should taste,... And it does even come close. I have the feeling the restaurant falls fully back on their great location and the very famous Paulaner... More

Staying in Xintiandi

Neighborhood Profile
The refurbishment of a block of old shikumen into a carless entertainment center called Xintiandi, filled with restaurants, shops and bars, turned this area below South Huangpi Road into one of Shanghai’s most fashionable areas. Luxe condos house people who can afford the high-end brands that fill the malls and shops along Madang Road. The pleasant Taipinghu Park provides the area with green space and is also home to Shanghai Fashion Week twice a year. It’s not all glitter and glamour, though, as the rise of Danshui Road has given the Xintiandi area a shot of toned-down character. Small bars and cafes, mostly owned by locals, have people hanging out in a formerly quiet, unassuming part of the neighborhood.
