When you only do one thing for years and years then it's no wonder you do it so perfectly. That's Jia Jia Tang Baos secret to the most amazing xia long baos ever. Silken wrappers nest juicy soupy fillings....don't feel shy while ordering.Make this your meal and you could easily eat them in multiples of 10. The small space may... More

A small place, not easy to find, with very few seats, very limited menu (just dumplings and soup) and poor air conditioning. The dumplings are to die for. We tried the pork, crab, and mixed pork and crab (my favorite) definitely worth the visit.

A Shanghainese friend brought me here and told me that I cannot leave Shanghai without eating here - I'm so glad I agreed to come here with her! The tang baos here were so juicy and the fillings were so flavourful. Be sure you get here early (around 6 or 7pm) as they tend to run out of the original... More

Good place to lose weight in the August heat. Still great dumplings. Seating is what it is...don't expect Din Tai Feng here...this is a no-frills dumpling joint. Enjoy

Hole in the wall place that makes the best XLB's They have an English menu upon request. Skin is thin and the soup is hot and tasty. Prices are cheap compared to a place like Din Tai Fung. There is no English sign on the store, so see my picture for help finding it. Went there twice in three days... More

After living in Shanghai for 10 years this is still one of my go-to spots for xiaolongbao. I think some locals have been turned off by the tourists, but I think their dismissal is unwarranted. The dumpling skin is still the thinnest next to Din Tai Fung and at a quarter the price, well worth it. Go in the late... More

We came here after reading reviews of the amazing xiaolongbaos. We arrived earlyish on a Sunday morning at around 10/11am on a rainy day so there was no queue but it was around 80% full already! From what we saw customers appeared to be mostly locals. Would recommend the original pork dumplings as they were the most delicious! I also... More

First of all, be here only if you have time. Queuing to get in the restaurant takes about 45 minutes when I was there. Whilst queuing, try to enjoy the surroundings. You can also try the Yang Dumpling just opposite this shop. Environment - small shop space and congested. Cleanliness- ehh...... Don't think too much. Food - EXCELLENT! Tangbao -... More

We would have struggled to find this little hole in the wall as it had no English name outside except that there was a long queue on the sidewalk. Despite the heat I had to try this as it comes so highly recommended. This isn't a place to eat & relax as there are lots of people waiting for a... More

Waited in line outside for the dumplings and was some what worried about a language barrier - they accommodated us with a menu in English and had someone help. These dumplings were amazing and have yet to find anything like it. The place was small, and kind of a hole in the wall but food was quite good

Staying in People’s Square

Neighborhood Profile
People’s Square
People’s Square brings with it all the excitement you would expect from the town square of one of the biggest cities in the world. The area around People’s Square and People’s Park is always a abuzz with activity. Oceans of local and foreign tourists flow in and out of the area every day to see grand museums, go shopping and eat at some of Shanghai’s most storied food centers. Shanghai residents, meanwhile, live and work in the many residential and office high-rises. While much of Shanghai stays busy late into the night, this really is an area that never sleeps with glitzy nightclubs keeping people up until the wee hours of the morning.
