After living in Shanghai for 10 years this is still one of my go-to spots for xiaolongbao. I think some locals have been turned off by the tourists, but I think their dismissal is unwarranted. The dumpling skin is still the thinnest next to Din Tai Fung and at a quarter the price, well worth it. Go in the late... More

We came here after reading reviews of the amazing xiaolongbaos. We arrived earlyish on a Sunday morning at around 10/11am on a rainy day so there was no queue but it was around 80% full already! From what we saw customers appeared to be mostly locals. Would recommend the original pork dumplings as they were the most delicious! I also... More

First of all, be here only if you have time. Queuing to get in the restaurant takes about 45 minutes when I was there. Whilst queuing, try to enjoy the surroundings. You can also try the Yang Dumpling just opposite this shop. Environment - small shop space and congested. Cleanliness- ehh...... Don't think too much. Food - EXCELLENT! Tangbao -... More

We would have struggled to find this little hole in the wall as it had no English name outside except that there was a long queue on the sidewalk. Despite the heat I had to try this as it comes so highly recommended. This isn't a place to eat & relax as there are lots of people waiting for a... More

Waited in line outside for the dumplings and was some what worried about a language barrier - they accommodated us with a menu in English and had someone help. These dumplings were amazing and have yet to find anything like it. The place was small, and kind of a hole in the wall but food was quite good

I have been visiting Jia Jia Tang Bao since the 1990s, they used to be a very tiny local restaurant just next to Yuyuan. However they have grown and many other outlet is now available. I can understand why people can say this place is over rated. because they have order the wrong food. Do bother with the regular dumpling,... More

The place it's extremely tiny. It's a place to experience it even if you don't like this type the food. Sit down with the locals and enjoy the moment. For me the food wasn't great, it's not my type of food for breakfast, but everyone seems to like it according to the long lines. Go early to avoid lines. Order... More

Stood in line for like 30 minutes to go in. Most of the types of dumplings were already gone. Service was very aggresive. Too agressive. The dumplings are good but not that amazing. I think a little over rated

This little shack is located within the Huanghe Road dining stretch. It is a great location for people around the bund area or in the people's square area who are tired of eating at malls or those standard chain restaurants. The soup dumplings are great and very very reasonably priced. Service is speedy too. Just one note about the hyigene... More
