I went to Barbarossa twice while I was in Shanghai, after seeing it recommended in a Lonely Planet guidebook. The first time, some friends and I were just out for drinks, and were seated on - I believe it is called - the Casbah Terrace, on the roof with a great view of the city's skyscrapers above us. Our waiter... More

Came across this restaurant whilst we where exploring People's Park. There where 3 of us and we ordered 2 set lunches between us, one salmon and one burger. The food was tremendously good and of a very high standard. Our waiter 'Jhay' was fantastic and gave us excellent service.

I have been to this restaurant a few times and I really enjoy the atmosphere and decor. The food is good and if you come during daylight you will see the amazing park setting with water lilies and greenery... A bit expensive (like all Western food restaurants) but worth a visit.

The location has such a delightful atmosphere, just like the place it self. They have a lovely menu, but the lunch offer is a great deal. The price depends on the main dish you choose the one on the picture costed 68 RMB. Besides the main dish you get a soup, salad, bread, a dessert and a cup of coffee... More

We went there during the day to have lunch, since it is really close to People's Square. The lunch was really great and cheap with the menu concept, however, the drinks are between 40-60 RMB which is a bit pricey. The food was good, nothing exceptional. The service was rather slow with poor English. The evening we came back to... More

This is definitely one of my favorite places in Shanghai. The atmosphere is very peaceful and calm. It has a nice view, lots of tress and a pond around the restaurant. The food is delicious and the prices are reasonable as well. Besides the location is right in the city center. So I would totally recommend this place to have... More

Every time I am in Shanghai, I usually dine at this restaurant the night before my last stay. :) I love the location, ambiance & most especially the food! The staff are also nice & friendly. I'm so lucky that I got to take a photo with the Chef, hehehe! He's also friendly too!

I came here for lunch, and although the service wasn't the best, the food was excellent and the location is unbeatable. It's actually in the park, so it would be a great place for a date in the evening. Although the food was a little expensive, it was well-prepared and tasty, and they had a good variety of options on... More

Staying in People’s Square

Neighborhood Profile
People’s Square
People’s Square brings with it all the excitement you would expect from the town square of one of the biggest cities in the world. The area around People’s Square and People’s Park is always a abuzz with activity. Oceans of local and foreign tourists flow in and out of the area every day to see grand museums, go shopping and eat at some of Shanghai’s most storied food centers. Shanghai residents, meanwhile, live and work in the many residential and office high-rises. While much of Shanghai stays busy late into the night, this really is an area that never sleeps with glitzy nightclubs keeping people up until the wee hours of the morning.
