Delicious!!

I wish I had taken pictures. We were in the area with a group of 51 students, out of the 51, 37 chose Mama's plus several of the chaperones. We had called ahead, they didnt take reservations but the recommended coming around 12:30. Though it was packed, the wait was very brief. I ordered the chicken tenders grilled & blackened, squash casserole, & a side salad with homemade ranch. It was delicious!! The portions and price were perfect, I would definitely recommend you try them out!! & to top it off, the kids did a "flash mob" & sang one of there songs and they welcomed it (& didnt kick us out) 😉😊

Cute downtown eatery, southern cookin’ 👍🏼

Cute downtown eatery with down-home southern cooking plus a few extras (looooove their Blackened shrimp and blackened fish!). Caesar salad is so fresh & huge! Service is diligent and personable. I think literally every member of the wait staff came by to check on us or do something for us, without being intrusive. The place always seems to be packed, and the service never suffers. The owner came out and entertained our questions about the history of the restaurant and the building space they occupy (adore their wall murals). Absolutely love their menu. Their cabbage, ✨squash casserole✨, okra,.. ok, I could also be well- satisfied with a veggie plate! But there is still the country fried steak, the pork, things I want to go back and try because there is an impressive variety on the menu and everything we have had so far has been very very tasty. Until next time!!

Trying something new…

Decided to try this restaurant while visiting mobile…read the reviews and checked out the pics and everything looked delicious…(Rating 1-10) I had the smothered pork chops (10) which was delicious and tender…I also had the Mac and cheese (10) and Rice and gravy (6.5) the rice was hard and it was cold…my husband had chicken tenders (6) and fries (4)…the tenders tasted as if it was fried in the fish grease and they were old and rubbery and the fries must have been sitting under a lamp or something! He said they were almost about to be a potato chip….my Arnold Palmer was perfectly made (10) and my husband had a regular sweet tea! No refills was offered…but there was no wait! Food came out immediately…

Great country cooking with excellent service

Great country cooking with excellent service. All four of us had something different and enjoyed our meals. Server was knowledgeable and helpful. The best part of the meal was the fried green tomatoes! Would definitely go back.

Holy cow what a great place

We had one day in Mobile so I agonized over our lunch choice, but I did good by choosing Mama's. We parked over by the Mardi Gras park and walked to avoid the congested street during lunch time. We had a very short wait around 12:30 on a Thursday and the staff was quick and efficient. Shrimp Po Boy was HUGE and delicious.

Fantastic Lunch!

While walking around downtown Mobile decided to drop into one of my favorite places that I hadn't been to in a long while. I had the shrimp and grits with fried ocra and the cucumber salad. Walked away stuffed and happy. I was very lucky because there was a parking place available on Dauphin Street directly outside the restaurant.

Nice little restaurant in downtown Mobile. Food was tasty and arrived quickly. Not very crowded and service was great.

Excellent spot for lunch. The fried pork chop lunch special was thick and juicy - absolutely perfect. Service was great too. Highly recommend.

Might go back again. Their menu has so many things I might try.

Apologetically slow. Forty five minutes from order to delivery of food. The menu selection certainly appealed to the Southern palate. It was good, but not wow. The shrimp and grits were just plain grits with a lightly seasoned tomato sauce and small shrimp. The collard greens were perfection. The bathroom: The soap dispenser spit soap on you. There were no paper towels, so people were using toilet paper to dry their hands. The waste can required that you open the lid with your hands, so people were just piling up wet TP on the lid. Note they are closed weekends.

Fried Shrimp Was Perfect

SO GOOD! Very busy- lunch rush on a Friday but they found tables for my group of 5. I got fried shrimp, Mac and cheese, and fries. Sweet tea was good. Mac and cheese was good- but a little dry - but still good enough I’d get it again in a heartbeat. Fries and shrimp were hot and fresh. Homemade tarter sauce was spot on. Overall probably the best meal I had in Mobile for the 3 day visit- and I had some other really good meals. Service was helpful frequently and considering how busy it was super fast.

Cold food

Well, food was cheap. Husband and I had the shrimp and grits. I had four very tiny shrimp in my dish. And the food was cold. We ate very little.

What a great place, the food, the staff, and we got to talk a while with Marshall, which was also from Maine and that made it even more special. This place is very good in all aspect. We will be back.
