(SERVES NO PORK) MUST-VISIT place if you step foot in Melaka. Beautifully artistic interior designs with lush greens, and a very comfortable place to dine-in. With 13 types of coffee beans to try from in the menu (all coffee beans from different Malaysian states), it's...no wonder coffee bean connoisseurs appreciate this place. The food here was delicious! Green Curry with Yee Mee -This was the highlight of our meal. Extremely delicious with rich spicy green curry broth. I would come back here just for this dish. Toasted bread with home-made Kaya Toast, with soft-boiled eggs -Perfect brunch to have, especially when you have a day of exploration ahead. I'd highly recommend this place for a meal.More

I like that you feel like you are getting off the busy street in this cafe and it has been lovingly put together by artists with quirky details galore. You know from its location that you will be paying tourist prices for everything, but that...is moderated by the fact that the food and the coffee are pretty good, whether that is a kaya toast set for breakfast or laksa for lunch.More

Enjoyed delicious and tasty food, freshly prepared. Attentive service. Located slightly off from the Jonker Walk buzz.

Nice cafe atmosphere & decor. Food served late, music too loud, small portion of food, not authentic in taste &, pricey. Coffee shake is nice, butter chicken is tasty but small portion

1st and probably last visit. Not friendly service when barely any customers but the let down was the cappuccino which was very diluted with little coffee taste.

I am a Malaccan who casually bring my friends and family to this cafe because they have 14 states of coffee to try. The first till the third time was great but this time really bad. The coffee we order from Melaka, Penang and Kelantan...all taste so bland. There is no texture or layer at all. The cappuccino taste like a 3 in 1 instant coffee. It was absolutely shameful to keep telling them how nice the coffee of this cafe is, then we experience this. Waited 10months after MCO. Even the creepers at the entrance is all gone. The inner cafe ambiance no longer have the garden walkway. All turn to modern tiles. Perhaps this is my last time here.More

We were walking around Melaka town looking for a place to have breakfast, and walked past Calanthe Art Cafe and I remembered reading good reviews about it, so we decided to eat here. The cafe has nice deco and ambience, and it has a wide...selection of coffee from around Malaysia, or are they just named after Malaysian states? I had a cup of coffee, it was not bad. The Calanthe laksa I had was really good, and satisfying, and my husband had Golden Rice with Rendang Chicken, kids had fish and chips and egg mayo sandwich. The food was delicious. I really liked the laksa and noticed that they were selling the laksa paste, so we bought two packets home, which we had to keep chilled. I must say they were the best curry laksa paste I have ever bought and cooked. It turned out really well. I'm really pleased that we can buy their Calanthe laksa paste on Shopee! Although the ladies working in the restaurant were a little grumpy, we didn't mind, as they were probably understaffed. When we left the restaurant there was a long queue of people outside. We were lucky we went there early at around 11am. Will definitely come back here again when we are back in Melaka.More

It was our first time and encounter a terrible customer service. They passed the menu upon us sitting down but made us wait for almost 30mins and serve the people that came 20 mins later than us. We asked the waiter to take our order...5 times in total and they told us to wait for them to come to the table, which never happened. They never came and take our order. They are not even busy as it was not a full house. Not sure about the food, the service definitely suck big time. Not worth waiting so we left, so many other cafes serving the same food with better qualityMore

Love the ambient, nice, peaceful and relaxing. I went there last week on a week day. So i didnt have to queue to get a seat, my order was quite fast and the the cafe's crew was friendly too. I had a bowl of my...very first time's nyonya laksa and loved it. Washed down with one of their signature's coffee; the coffee wasnt strong (i normally prefer the stronger ones) but it went well with my choice of food for my dinner. Love to return if i visit Melaka again.More

Laksa is still as delicious as always. Due to RMCO, many patrons were waiting to be seated. We went back to try their calanthe rice with chicken berempah, delicious but we were not being served with the yellow rice as shown in the menu but...gotten white rice instead. Anyhow the anchovies sambal goes well with the rice. And the sambal is just at the right kick. Since we were seated right next to the check in counter. We noticed staff didnt attend to those who were queuing and waiting to be served. And instead some customers just walked in to the cashier without scanning and staff actually allowed them to be seated. Guess this should be taken note to provide better experience for other queuing customers and also to make sure all customers complied with the sopMore

traveled during rmco, was packed and had to manage with the low chair and table. service was a bit slow barring that this place was at full capacity. Their curry noodles are the best. The interior needs a bit of sprucing.

This is the worst experience being in this cafe. Unfriendly staffs, waited 30 minutes for a table when the cafe was not busy, ordered coffee and it’s been 40 minutes and coffee was not here. Staffs were extremely ignorant. So much hype about how amazing...this coffee place is but it’s just crap. They should just close down this cafe and find another hobby.More

Malaysia has a thriving specialty coffee scene that rivals that of other well known U.S. coffee-crazy cities like Seattle and San Francisco. With the tagline ‘The First and Only One’, Calanthe is unique, serving specialty coffee drinks from all the 13 states of the country,...some Malaysian states have unique blends of coffee mixed with margarine, salt or even wheat flour. With expectations raised sky-high, I was let down by the coffee I cupped which seemed relatively subdued and muted aromatics. Calanthe is also called an “art cafe”, and therefore you can immerse in the artistic ambience, decorations and wall paintings. Food-wise the Calanthe Laksa – in-house recipe -the gravy consists of coconut milk, lemon grass, turmeric, dried prawn paste, shallots, etc. served with tofu puffs, fish balls, fried bean curd skin, portion of hard boiled egg, fishcake slices, bean sprouts and grated cucumber is nothing to write home to mother about. The merely so-so vibes don’t quite last until the very end the week. This is the true truth as I say it as it is…More
