The best fried chicken ever!!

Oh my goodness this is soul food at its finest!!! I’m so glad we googled and found this spot on our travel north! The fried chicken is literally the best I’ve had! The collard greens were amazing as was the Mac and cheese, green beans, Cole slaw and potato salad! The cornbread was on point and the lemonade was fire! The ice tea was amazing and then we had dessert! The honeybun cake is nothing less than a home run as was the banana pudding! My lawd have mercy this place is beyond good!!!😊 🤤

Great lunch spot!

The staff was very friendly and patient. Our order came out quickly and was full of flavor. The lunch selections offered plenty of options. Great overall experience.

Cold sides and only chicken wings. Sad used to be great but today was terrible.If you say fried chicken as it used to be breath thighs etc. If you have just wings call it wings. Perhaps you need to get there earlier to make the sides hot. Really cold yams and green beans. There were 6 of us and it was all cold except the 3 wings you got for $10.00.

One of the best meat and threes in town. Huge servings and excellent options. The greens are exceptional. They were out of turkey legs again which is disappointing but the vegetable plate was a healthier option anyway.

Turkey legs are amazing

Have to completely disagree with the reviewer that didn’t like the turkey. So good. Gravy was wonderful too. And I got two in my order! Every side was spectacular especially the fried green tomatoes. I’m super picky about banana pudding but this may be better than my homemade.

Been wanting to try since they moved. We did and they did not disappoint! I had the pot roast, yams, fried corn. The pot roast was very good with carrots and new potatoes, was a very generous serving. The yams were tender and sweet. Fried corn was seasoned very well. Wife said fried chicken was best she had ever eaten. Red velvet cake reminded me of my Mother’s. Peach cobbler was very good. Will definitely be back!!

Long line at lunch. Didn’t have the turkey legs which was disappointing. Like the veggie options, particularly the greens. We tried turnip and collards and they were good but almost too salty to eat. Fried green tomatoes were excellent and so were the eggs. Hamburger steak included two which was a big serving. Under seasoned and not really any gravy. Was some clear liquid but was that gravy? 4 veggie plate doesn’t come with a drink so be prepared to pay for that. Peach cobbler was nice. Excellent service to be so slammed and very friendly staff. If it were an option I’d give them a 3 1/2 rating.

Long time customer - no more

We have eaten here for years. Their food was always made from scratch and the price was good. Unfortunately, the last two times we have eaten there it appears they are cutting corners using canned food and store bought desserts (.the cheap kind). In addition to that they have upped their prices. Both times we have thrown the desserts away after just a bite. We will most likely not return. You can eat at a buffet cheaper with same quality of food.

Was on a business trip and thankfully people gave suggestions for local places to eat and this came up several times. Went here for lunch and was not disappointed. The fried chicken is very good. Great seasoning. This is not fast food so when you order is when your fried food is prepared. There was a small wait but worth it. Get there early around 11 or 11:30 as they are only open a few hours a day.

Good southern food that satisfies the soul!

We take out-of-town family here to enjoy a good southern meal. The catfish in particular is delicious, as are the fried green tomatoes!

Great Soul Food in HSV.

Excellent Soul Food restaurant. No frills, but both great food and great service. Oxtails & Whole Catfish are my favorites. There's usually a long wait after church on Sundays

Unexpected Find

Wonderful home style food but they sometimes run out of the specials. Fried pork chops were huge and delicious. Mac and Cheese could have been cheesier.

Soul food!

Very enjoyable food. Fried chicken had been cooked a bit too long. Real mashed potatoes, great fried green tomatoes, cabbage was excellent. Sweet cornbread (too yankee for me) lol. Good deserts. Staff was very nice checked on us numerous times and the order was out promptly!
