Lady who took my to-go order was very nice an pleasant, whereupon I got mongolian beef with fried rice and egg drop soup to go. Universally, I think mongolian beef is quite the common American-Chinese dish that many gravitate to as an consistently solid dish. Well, this one was extremely odd. It had none of the crunchy rice noodles or green onions which I have had in every mongolian beef dish I have ever ordered, and on top of that it had broccoli and carrots. WTF? It also had some kind of funk spice that was abnormal than just the chili peppers that go in the dish. The dish was meh. I mean it wasn't bad, but it definitely was not special and did not solve my craving for some mongolian beef. This place used to be D Shiznit when they were down on 280 further, so I don't know if it's this one dish that's jacked up or if everything is like this, but it makes me sad.

Well, our favorite Chinese restaurant was closed the day after Christmas, so we decided to try Golden City 2. We placed a pickup order, and the order was ready right around when indicated. If dining in, the interior of the old Tortuga's has been renovated and is fresh and clean — booth and table options are available. So, we tried several staples that we judge all Chinese restaurants by. First, the Hot & Sour Soup. It was different but tasty. The broth was thick, and there was no seafood or chicken. It was marked on the menu as spicy but actually was not. Nevertheless, it was flavorful, and we’d order it again. The egg rolls were fantastic — full of flavor, moist, and not the standard roll just filled with cabbage. These egg rolls are not vegetarian — pork and shrimp included, which explains the punch of flavor. We also ordered Mongolian Beef and Salt Pepper Shrimp. Both dishes were packed with flavor. If you expect traditional Mongolian Beef, you may be disappointed with the Golden City 2 version — it’s made with broccoli instead of scallions. The Salt Pepper Shrimp dish was packed with a variety of diced vegetables including slices of jalapeños. Both entrees are marked on the menu as being spicy, but they weren’t. Nevertheless, the dishes were tasty, and we’d order them again. We also look forward to trying other dishes from Golden City 2. As to improvements, spicy dishes need to be spicy, and it’d be great if Golden City 2 would offer delivery services without having to go through a third party.

We went here for dinner. We remembered the old Golden City which was closer to town at River Hills shopping center. It was pretty good. I can't find anything good to say about this place. The service was terrible. We had to ask for our napkins, our silver, our water, everything. You would think if they bring you an appetizer they might bring serving utensils, but not here. We had to ask for each thing. The place was not crowded, another couple was there eating and someone was waiting for a carry out order. That was it, not much of a serving challenge. The egg drop soup was greasy. The dumplings were only so so, and our main course tasted like frozen food from the supermarket. It's a shame because it looks like someone has spent a lot of money to fix the place up. We won't go back!

I visited on a weekday for lunch and was seated immediately. I tried to find out if this was the same family/management that had the old Golden City restaurant in Inverness in the '80s and '90s, but the hostess/waitress/cashier lady was evasive when asked. That place was awesome but has been gone for many years, perhaps as many as 20. I only had to wait until my order arrived to get the answer to my question. No way this is connected to the old Golden City. My Mongolian Chicken was dry and way overcooked. It was so tough I needed a knife to cut it. The portions were small and even the fried rice was extremely dry. There are some notable Chinese restaurants within a couple of miles of this one which are much better. I won't be going back.
