I went after a local recommended it to me and it did not disappoint! I had gumbo, low country boil, and the cobbler of the day. I eat seafood all the time and this was a meal that delivered! My waitress was kind and the food didn't take forever.

I have been to Wintzell's a few times but just can't seem to like it as much as everyone else. The food is good but not what everyone raves about and really pricey. The oysters were good but gritty. The best part of the dining experience is sitting on the balcony overlooking the lake, really nice. The service was really... More

Located right on the lake just below the Hampton Inn, you will find world famous Wintzell's Oyster House. Open every day of the week with friendly service and reasonable prices. The seafood gumbo is just as good as the gumbo in New Orleans complete with oysters and a rich dark roux. Relax and enjoy the view of the lake and... More

Having traveled to the Mobile AL area many times and eaten at the Wintzell's there (where the restaurant originated), I know Wintzell's food can be wonderful but have been disappointed by several of their other locations, but this one was definitely a chip off the old block. Great seafood and service. We had both the baked and raw oysters -... More

Had dinner with two friends again at Wintzells last week. The food is still nice, the beer still tasty and the service, although a bit slow, friendly and focused. I do not consider this a typical business dinner joint but it is a good place to catch up with friends

Pretty good food. A little pricey for what you get. The gumbo is really good and the shrimp and grits is the best I have had in this area

Well it is June and it was happy hour (half price) oysters but they were small. Probably regular price oysters are larger. But gumbo was super super super. Beer was cold and ice in vodka tonic was too. Fried fish, fried shrimp, and bacon wrapped scallops our choice and all three were great. Onion rings were large, hot, crisp and... More

Looking forward to dinner here. Service slow. Out of catfish (really ?? At a seafood restaurant in Alabama!!) So I had heard their commercial on the radio about their crab soup, so I ordered that. Wait, wait, wait. New guy brings my husband his poboy and me a plate of fried shrimp and fries. Looks wonderful! Huge shrimp, but it... More
