The beignets were SO delicious and an excellent ending to our meal which was good too! Our waitress was excellent! Only complaint was the fries, hushpuppies and okra was definitely under a heat lamp for awhile.
We went here for a late lunch with my husband and three children. Everyone loved there food, my kids even loved the swamp soup-after we told them it wasn't seaweed! Portions were huge and they also gave free cake afterwards!
Laurie provided excellent service and was so friendly. The OMG Shrimp Poboy with the crawfish sauce was delicious. The crinkle fries were perfect. Wife enjoyed the regular shrimp poyboy. Very good sweet tea. Great local place worth checking out.
This is my dad’s absolute favorite place to eat! The catfish is fresh & delicious, very generous portions! The swap soup is a must try! Service as great! The atmosphere is that of a dive & seating is limited! We will definitely be back!
By looking at the outside of restaurant it is very boring and understated. But inside it’s nice and roomy with nice decor. We liked the atmosphere here a lot better than the tourist trap restaurants as it was low key without the party scene crowd....The food was excellent! Even the swamp soup!!! Try it! It’s ugly but good. Beans, greens, & sausage in a soup form. We got the fried white fish and shrimp. You can get most things fried, blackened or grilled your choice. Each meal comes with coleslaw, hush puppies, fried okra, swamp soup, and fries! It’s a lot! They also have lighter appetite meals for around $9. Our meals were $12 for white fish meal and $17 for half fish half shrimp meal. They have one dessert for $5. It’s a deep fried beignet with fruit in it...it was ok but probably not worth the $5 and not big enough to share. Three meals with water to drink and just one dessert was $58 before tip.More
We ate lunch here on 5/14/21. Kimberly was our server. She was excellent. Apologized because she had a big table right ahead of our 4-top (no need to apologize!). A work colleague recommended the burgers, and boy was he right!! All four of us had...some version of their River Cheeseburger, and we were all impressed. Great food, great location, great service! Can't ask for better!More
This is obviously the local hangout. We found it because it's next the the Rouse's grocery store and we needed to get groceries and dinner. We ordered it and then grocery shopped and then returned and it was ready. Their fried and blackened shrimp were...awesome. We got it later in the week and some got the burgers, which they really enjoyed. The restaurant looks reasonably nice for a strip-mall joint. One weird thing was that when we called later in the week they said they were too busy in the restaurant to take phone orders so we sent someone up there to order and wait. That's a strange policy. Also, their menu isn't correct on their website. Use the menu photos from TripAdvisor.More
Our entire family had a great time. From our grandkids at four years of age to teens and 50+. Arrived near peak dinner time and still were seated quicky with group of seven. We started with gator bites and all loved 'em. Gumbo and pistols...were awesome. Everyone liked the swamp soup ... gotta try it. Highly recommended. I'd be back if we stayed in G.S. longer and we'll definitely keep it on a list of favorites to return to on next trip.More
Cheese curd appetizer was really good. ‘Swamp soup’ is really unique and delicious. Fries are crinkle cut and crispy. Burger patty was overcooked a bit, and the ‘Swiss’ cheese was an unappealing white processed cheese product. Wife did not care for the blue cheese sauce...on her burger, either. All in all, not bad. If I go back, I wouldn’t get the burger.More
