Lunch while on the road

My wife and I stopped here for lunch while traveling. We had the smoked turkey sandwich. It was very good. Had a side of pasta salad and it was also very tasty. I would eat here again while passing through. It is right of I65 so it is a quick lunch when driving on I65.

Road tripping from PA to Gulf Shores, AL for a long winter holiday break. Turned to the Alabama Food guide and scouted for restaurants on our route south. Timing and location led us to Bates. Yes, the atmosphere leaves a lot to be desired but what do you expect from a place that practically sits on the I-65 exit ramp... More

I can only recommend the smoke turkeys sandwiches or purchasing sliced or pre cooked smoked turkeys for sandwiches, located in their refrigerated case. Always quick and easy service, clean bathrooms, can sit and eat of grab and go which I usually do. Quick off and back on stop. Wal-Mart nearby also for gas or provisions. Worth the time and money.... We have been stopping at Bates House of Turkey since the '70s as we travel to vacation and to visit relatives in Gulf Shores, Alabama. We highly recommend it for all things turkey - roasted turkey sandwiches, barbecued turkey sandwiches, turkey nachos, turkey wraps or a complete turkey dinner. We took a few points off for its lack of atmosphere... More

At one time this was the place to eat, however I found it had lost some of its luster. Turkey and sides were fine but served on plastic plates. Great for some place different, you don't find turkey everywhere.

I've heard great things about this place and decided to try it out! First off, I'm not a huge fan of turkey. I will eat it at Thanksgiving and turkey cold cuts on a sandwich; that's the extent of being a turkey fan. Now my husband on the other hand would eat turkey every day and all day because he... More

We've been stopping here for 30 yrs on the way home to trips to south AL Convenient to get off at Greenville AL exit and nice pet walk as well Food is consistently delicious and service is friendly. Often we run across friends stopping here at the same time Thanksgiving dinner w/wonderful sides are the #1 draw. I especially like... More

Must go to place when in Greenville, AL. The have a farm where they raise their own turkeys. It's like having Thanksgiving 364 days out of the year.

I've passed this place a million times and never felt compelled to check it out until I was traveling with a group of girlfriends and one of them recommended it so we went in. It was FANTASTIC. Lots of different turkey items on the menu. I had the turkey salad. Will definitely return when I'm passing through again.

If you come expecting a Thanksgiving feast, this is not the place for you. My meal was poorly constructed and only like warm. There was no service beyond taking your order.
