An off-the-path find traveling on business thru AL. It was worth every moment and every dollar! The Cafe was quaint with the old screen doors to greet you and a few locals seated by the door to say hello as you walked in. Service was...quick and friendly. Menu board had a lot of choices. I got the daily special, Catfish. I chose mine fried and it came with slaw and fries. Food came out quickly and was delicious! Catfish was local, which added to the uniqueness of the Cafe. The slaw was a small chop type with added sweet relish and was fantastic! Prices were reasonable and the restaurant was full with locals by the time we left. Will definitely add this to my list of favorite local stops!More

We had come from North Dakota and I wanted crayfish we had talked to some people and said they had them in Faunsdale we got there about 7:30 in the evening. When the waitress took our order I said I wanted crayfish she said they...were out. I told her I came from ND just to have them just so happened one of the other waitress heard us and said there was a go box that nobody picked up so I got crayfish and they made my day. Would go back there again. Real friendly and made you feel welcome.More

Great place to drop by for lunch. I like the catfish sandwich and the spicy chicken sandwich. I also love the ambiance!

Took a day trip to Faunsdale and was pleasantly pleased to stumble upon this cafe. There is a one block area of downtown Faunsdale. It is very old and rundown looking and if not looking closely, or mealtime you will possibly drive past the cafe....Luckily we were passing through at lunchtime and all the locals were parked along the street which alerted us. We had a hamburger and fries on one plate and catfish, salad and fries on the 2nd plate. Thursday is fresh catfish day and I am sure it is wonderful because the fresh frozen was very good. Service was good and friendly. There is a cookie jar on the counter and apparently all the locals know to reach in for a few when you pay the tab. Everything seemed to be $9. It was a step back in time to drive around the little town and see all the antebellum houses. Lovely country drive led to a Presbyterian Church on the side of the road. A female was there and encouraged us to look inside, which we did. Beautiful house of God. Still serving the community since 1887.More

The Faunsdlae Café is in a great old building on the one block of downtown in Faunsdale. And it's worth your time to drive around the little town as well. The antebellum buildings will not disappoint! The food is great and it's a good way...to get some local flavor while you see some local characters.More

This restaurant is in a small community in the heart of the Alabama Black Belt just south of US80. We stopped for lunch on our way to MS. It was just after 12:15 and the place was packed. All seemed to be locals, farmers and...hunters. Menu was on blackboard on wall. Special of the day was catfish, slaw and fries. Since we knew the place was famous for catfish we both ordered the special. Fish was very good. I liked the slaw a lot. Fries were really tasty but very greasy. I didn't try the hushpuppies but me wife did and said they were not very good, obviously frozen. Overall a very good meal at exactly $9 tax included. Place is in what was an old store. Certainly nothing fancy but an oasis in the country.More
