After Chennai, Banana Leaf is easily the best place to get South Indian tiffin. The place is always jam packed so be ready to wait a bit before the feast begins. The cheese cauliflower dosa is outstanding.

Excellent Tamil food. Good for the pocket and very prompt service. Very average ambiance though may be owing to the clientele type.

This one of the upscale destinations for South Indian food in South Kolkata area. The food here is good, especially the meals, though the food used to be better & cheaper earlier. I do visit this place occasionally with my family.

This restaurant specialises in South Indian cuisine and has been in existence for over 20 years. It is part of the hotel Komala Vilas. The food is delicious and is a favourite amongst many who stay in Rashbehari area of Kolkata just next to the Kalighat metro railway station. A must visit for a South Indian food lover.

This has been my 'go- to' place for eating South Indian food for about 4 decades. Its long term popularity and its brisk business are attestations to its good food. The taste and cooking is Tamilian, a smoother, more rounded flavour than other southern cuisines. The service is quick and guests are here primarily for the serious business of eating.... More

Walking down the street we decided to stop n have a cold coffee with ice cream. It was watery with hardly any ice cream n it took them 1/2hr to deliver.

Banana leaf offers tasty south Indian platter in the middle of Kolkata. I had south Indian thali. Food was tasty and filling. I had to wait for 20+ minutes for my turn. Waiting time will be more for the families looking for a table, so plan accordingly.

If you are looking for good authentic south indian food near lake market this is one option. The interior is nice and cosy. The price is a little more than the adjacent Prema Villa. Rava dosa and paper dosa is a must. So is the coffeee and icecream
