Taj Coromandel is the hotel where I started my career. 40 years back.Worked in Kitchen,Banquet,Golden Dragon (Chinese Restaurant)and Indian Restaurant Mysore. Taj hotel has now renovated .Couldn't find Mysore Indian Restaurant so we went and had S. Indian food at Southern Spice. Food was excellent. Throughly Enjoyed. Thanks to the staff who looked after us so well.

The friendly wait staff will take to great lengths to explain to you each dish's origins, how to consume it and what to consume it with. Service staff is attentive and has a good sensing on what the customer requires or might need.

This was by far our best meal in India. Not knowing what would be best to try we both went for a banquet meal with the thought that we would try a little bit of everything. Well, we certainly felt like we tried everything, but it was far more than a 'little bit'! We were so stuffed by the end... More

My daughter and I had a lovely evening of indulgence at this gem of a restaurant. We opted for the cheapest "feast" option and were not disappointed. We were presented with several courses of the most delicious Indian food. The waiters were very attentive and friendly and I was even given a print out detailing the meals we had just... More

Southern Spice is the restaurant to go to if one is looking for traditional South Indian food. The Lady Fish starter and the Prawns are good. Try the Alleppy Fish curry with Apams and round up the dinner with the Elaneer Payasam and you could not go wrong. Service levels are excellent. Definitely worth a visit.

The ambiance is very relaxing and pleasant. Service - Our server was very patient and explained us every bite of food served on the table... More

You won't find a Chicken Korma here. You will find great flavoursome food from the region. The onion and cashew nut fritters was a fantastic starter followed morsals of fragrant mutton curry. Not cheap for the region but worth the effort..

I ate here, twice, whilst staying in the Taj Coromandel hotel. So good was the first meal, that I actually ate almost exactly the same on the second occasion! The setting is sumptuous, the service is outstanding, and the food excellent (even if a sauce described as "fiery" was considerably less so than would be an English madras, jalfrezi, or... More
