Well if you love the off the old block restaurants then this will not dissapoint you, Brittania and company is a very famous parsi restaurant on everyone's list in Mumbai, It's located in the Ballard estate area of South mumbai, It is famous for the...entire range of parsi cuisine that is staple fare here, The most famous dishes are Berry Pulao, Lagan nu Custard ( Basically the good old Caramel Custard), Salli Kheema, Also it serves the old world drinks like Sosyo and Pallonji ( a must try raspberry flavoured cola drink - it is a proud parsi drink which is mostly available in parsi restaurants only) The food was quickly brought to our table, and it was very appetising, I've rated 4 stars as the decor and upkeep of the restaurant is still not up to the name that they have in the market, Go here for the nostalgia, the parsi food and drink and the old world charm of irani cafes.More

I had heard a lot about the restaurant and had been told it’s an institution that I must visit. I’m glad I took the advice as I thoroughly enjoyed my experience. I am a fussy eater and cleanliness is of importance to me, so when...I read reviews to the contrary I was a little concerned - but when you arrive, you can see that the staff are very presentable, the tables are clean as are all utensils. I can’t speak for the kitchen as I didn’t see it ... but what I can say is, whatever comes out of there is absolutely delicious. We tried the famous Sali boti with roti, which was so rich in flavour and thoroughly enjoyed. The couple who sat on the same table as us, as we’d opted for a share table to be seated quicker, were nice enough to talk us through what was popular on the menu. As we had dinner plans and didn’t want to over eat, they insisted we try their berry pulav. WOW. What a dish. If I didn’t have dinner plans and if I wasn’t full of Sali Boti, I’d have had a plate of the berry pulav to myself. At least this gives me another excuse to return to Mumbai!More

Go for the history, not necessarily the food. Just sit down and absorb the vibes of this old and dilapidated place. Dark, peeling paint, it's like you are stepping back in time. The old school waiters are helpful is choosing a entree. Food is ok...but nothing amazing.More

Visited the restaurant after seeing reviews and wanted to try the food, On entering the restaurant i saw the walls and ceilings of the restaurant were not maintained and felt like i entered a haunted house. The basic cleanliness is missing and for a place...where we go to eat food, we expect cleanliness to be number 1 priority which does not seem to be owners priority, Not sure, if the exterior is so dirty and not maintained how much importance they would have given to kitchen and the food, I did not order any food, just ordered custard as after looking at the non maintained dog roaming restaurant did not feel like eating there and would request everyone to check the same before ordering food Thank you,More

The food served is good. Must try - berry rice and traditional flavors of parsi sodas. The dos and donts are must read while waiting to be served.

Visited after a few years. Glad to say that the food remains excellent. Stuck with the old classics of salli boti, dhansak, berry pulao and caramel custard. All fabulous.

So, I really liked this place, I'll say up front! Even though solo travellers are welcomed with 'sit at a side table' and there are lots of strict signs (CASH ONLY), the bow tied old waiters are amenable and it just has a great 'feel'...to it. The Dishoom recommended 'chicken berry pulao' is just ok though. Nothing special and by local standards a bit pricey at INR550.More

Britannia & Company Restaurant is an iconic, heritage restaurant established in 1923 by Zoroastrian (Parsi) Boman Kohinoor. It’s one of the best known Parsi Restaurants in Mumbai. Mr Boman Kohinoor passed away in 2019 at the age of 97. It was his happiest day in...life when Prince William and Kate Middleton visited his restaurant. If one does not know its history or importance in the culinary scene of Mumbai and passes in front of the restaurant, one may hardly give it a second look or venture to go in. It has probably not been renovated in Long time. But you will immediately fall in love with the place as soon as you sit down. You would find yourself surrounded by foodies from all over the world. Parsi culture and the food, in the words of Mr Boman Kohinoor is a blend of Iranian and Hindu traditions. The Zoroastrians fled Iran and took refuge in India 800 years back. The best dishes, once again in the words of Mr. Boman, are the Berry Pulao, Sali Boti, Dhansak and Patra Fish.. We enjoyed Caramel custard and Chocolate Moose for desert and icecream sodas for drink.More
