TresInd may be a tad difficult to locate as it is situated in one of the barricaded by-lanes of BKC, Mumbai.
But once you have reached there, you may want time to stand still.
TresInd has a pre-determined menu called the Chef’s tasting menu (Veg...and non-veg) – We chose the vegetarian option.
Right from the word ‘go’ with the welcome aromatic smoke vase , an atmosphere of mystique is created.
And then on, starts a magical culinary journey. With very crisp pani-puris with tangy aragula pani, the avocado bharta (yes, you heard it right ! ), the crunchy shiso khakras with cream and raw mango topping, the paneer & white matar peeking from beneath a potato crip, the finger-licking pumpkin chaat (who ever thought that a humble pumpkin could be transformed into something so delicious?), the simple paniyaram elevated to a high with a bed of parmesan cheese. Each starter created to tantalize your taste buds. The palate cleanser was a khandvi sorbet – two items that one may have never thought could deliver such a perfect combination.
Then the main course designed to blow your senses – the Malabar parathas with all its layers coupled with Nilgiri mushroom curry and a heavenly fusion of crisp arbi tossed in a Kerala style coconut milk based gravy.
The star of the show was the Khichdi of India – with its unique presentation blending in diverse flavours from all corners of India (Kashmiri saffron, Madras curry powder, Andhra biryani masala, Assamese chili, ginger from Arunachal Pradesh and many more states).
What was the show-stealer was the dessert of malai burrata and a unique concoction of fermented milk and salted caramel icecream that simply melted in your mouth, the paan stones with their super thin chocolate shells hiding a liquid paan filling inside.
Hats off to the incredibly talented and creative chefs who designed such sublime dishes, and the team who so efficiently explains each item.
Our visit to TresInd was nothing short of a visual and a gastronomic extravaganza.
One suggestion : Go at a leisurely pace - the entire lunch takes around an hour and a half - so please give it the time it deserves ! Though the portions may look small or bite-sized, they are extremely filling considering the number of dishes they serve. Also, one can re-order any dish again without an extra fee.More
