I tried to come here for dinner the night after my first visit to Machu Picchu but like many restaurants in Aguas Calientes they were closing early due to protests in town that day. I was glad I persevered and came back for lunch the next day before my train back to Ollantaytambo - I enjoyed a delicious, filling roasted vegetable sandwich made with good quality, fresh ingredients and a refreshing beer, with good, attentive service. Aguas Calientes is so small that this restaurant is still only a few minutes walk from the centre of town but it feels tucked away thanks to the location down a quiet alley (up a steep flight of steps!) and it felt like a great option for dining away from some of the more "tourist trap" restaurants while still being reasonably priced.

Our first meal at the Treehouse restaurant was so good that we returned the following day at lunchtime and re-ordered the same thing. We were pleased with every single dish and drink we tried. Perfect way to indulge after hiking the Inca trail and exploring Machu Picchu!

Amazing Peruvian food and cocktails with great service from Juan Carlos! We shared the Alpaca Carpaccio (sooo delicious, lovely mix of Peruvian and Italian ingredients) and crispy pork dish. Both were wonderful. Juan Carlos suggested the local lucuma fruit dessert with chocolate sauce, which was spectacular. Intimate restaurant with delicious food and relaxing ambiance. Perfect!

I went here for lunch with my travel buddy. There’s a short walk up to get to this place. When we arrived we were disappointed to find this wasn’t a treehouse and they are pictures of an outside and not a window and the interior was very average, with a lots of flies everywhere “due to the climate”… there was one group of people eating there and the lights weren’t switched on so the room was quite dim at 1pm. We ordered the alpaca carpaccio for starters and steak sandwiches for mains, each, both cooked differently with different sides. We waited at least half an hour for food to arrive. Unfortunately, the carpaccio was forgotten about and after a while they eventually brought over the sandwiches, and they swapped the orders around (the sides didn’t correspond to how cooked through the steak was). We asked if the starters were still coming and the waiter confessed he had forgotten about it. We ate the sandwiches and the waiter was going to bring us sauces but by the time he had I had nearly finished my sandwich as I was worried it would go cold by the time he came back. But they were very tasty with no sauces so that saved this rating a bit. The waiter offered us “free tea” as an apology for the service but we get that for free at out hostel so we didn’t care for it. He then offered the carpaccio for free so we wouldn’t leave unsatisfied. We agreed to this. He cleared our plates and went to the kitchen. He came back to the table clearly having discussed what he had offered to the rest of the staff saying “just checking you understood me correctly, I can offer you free tea but not the carpaccio as it’s too expensive”. Already quite moody from the experience we corrected him and said we understood perfectly as we both lived in Spain so there was no language barrier. He put in a new offer and said they could give us the carpaccio at a discount. We agreed to this and it was very tasty! However, when the bill came, after waiting a long time we proceeded to pay in cash and we bet we wouldn’t get the correct change back. We bet correctly. We had to correct the waiter’s math and 15 minutes later he brought over the correct change. All round, the service was very poor but the food was tasty. The atmosphere was a bit strange as they only turned on the lights when a 3rd group of people arrived. For the price, I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant given the service. But the food was tasty.

This is quite possibly the best restaurant for 100 miles. A wonderful meal & our service from Juan Carlos was especially great! He was an excellent server, who has a thorough knowledge of the menu and was able to answer all my questions about the food without hesitation. If you're hungry in the area, you really can't miss with Tree House. Great presentation and delicious flavors!

We ate at a lot of places on our visits to Piura, Lima, Cusco, Ollantaytambo, and Aguas Calientes.... but this might have been our favorite! It is aptly named "The Tree House", and you need to go up a bunch of stairs to get up to this place, but it is totally worth it. Luckily we had an Airbnb a little higher up the steps, or we may never have found this place. I got talking to someone who was coming down the stairs as we were going up, and she highly recommended the gnocchi. Great choice.... was delicious. Everything was really good, and the staff was very nice/patient even though we were there near closing time. Didn't feel rushed at all. Check this place out!

Excellent variety of delicious food and drink. We visited twice for our only two meals in Aguas Calientes and were delighted by the food and ambience both times. We had the prawn soup, vegetable curry, suckling pig, mixed ceviche, coffee pepper tenderloin as well as two deserts and their pisco sours and enjoyed everything. It looks a little underwhelming outside but the tunes and the friendliness of the staff more than make up for it!

Service was five stars. Amazing selection of appetizers with Peruvian, French and Japanese influence. The Nikkei ceviche was fantastic, I had the duck beast in a gooseberry glacé with some sort of mashed that was addicting. My GF has the prawn chowder. I don’t like prawns overseas…nice Peruvian wines selection and Chilean. Where are the rest of the places like this?

I think these meals were the best we had anywhere in Peru! Finding the place was really tricky and our GPS could not do it. It is halfway up (or down depending on where you are coming from) a long flight of stairs. We finally got directions from someone on the main square by the Virgin del Carmen church. We were there on a weekday and it was quiet, which was a relief after some of the crowds we had been dealing with. The alpaca carpaccio was spectacular. I enjoyed a gin fizz while my spouse had a classic pisco sour. The fish (trucha, a local trout that tastes like salmon) was perfectly cooked and the gnocchi de papas were very flavorful. I loved my mousse de lucuma con chocolate for dessert. The chicha sour was interesting but on the sweet side- reminiscent of sweet red wine. Our waiter Juan Carlos was friendly and we were able to speak English with him instead of my horrible Spanish. Altogether a terrific evening experience.

I had the crispy suckling pig with pear and quince purée. The different tastes went well together and the meat was perfectly cooked. For dessert, I chose lúcuma crisp. Absolutely delightful. Prices were good. Service was excellent. Setting was charming. If you are in Aguas Calientes, you will definitely want to check out this restaurant!

Incredible food! One of our favorite meals in Peru (& they’ve all been wonderful). We had the alpaca carpaccio to start followed by native potato gnocchi & grilled paiche. Every dish was exceptional & fair portions. A bonus is the setting which is treehouse like & secluded, away from the hustle & bustle. Do not miss!

Really peaceful setting, some of the best food we have had in Peru, and a very kind and friendly waiter, Juan Carlos, who we had a good conversation with. The Peruvian wine was yummy (the first I’ve tried), and the duck and gnocchi were delicious. Highly recommend getting off the busy streets and coming up here!

I wish I could say this is the best restaurant in Aguascalientes…the only reason I can’t say that is because in my two trips there, I’ve refused to eat anywhere else, so I can’t compare it to the rest. :-) Coming from San Francisco, we are used to amazing food, and this hidden gem is next level good. It’s almost with another trip to Peru just to eat there.

The food I had was delicious. I had the roastbeef sandwich with onions, blue cheese , and some sauce.. it was wonderful. The cocktails were prepared very nice as well. The interior of the restaurant was nice and for some reason the place was empty the last couple of days I walked by. I know the location isn’t “convenient” but the food and atmosphere was great I recommend 100%
