Healthy foods, tasty desserts, fresh juices and smoothies & real espresso, all on the beach in Mae Haad. The food and beverages at Coconut Monkey are locally sourced and organic produce whenever possible. Our chefs produce a mouth-watering variety of exciting vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. Come and try one of our famous dessert! Our kitchen is open from 8am to 5pm but we are open for sunset drinks and nibbles until 7pm every day.

This place is amazing for vegan and conscious eaters, a big menu and prices are reasonable ( they do offer some meat options). For example a smoothie or juice is actually 40 baht cheaper than in another similar restaurant. Amongst the one you would expect in this type of restaurant you can also find the Burmese tea salads, vegan snickers, bannofee, lemon cheesecake...the vibes is also a plus, very relaxing on the beach, with different seatings types and you can have the kids play on the beach while you enjoy your coffee. Staff seems to enjoy working there too so it’s another good sign! We love their banana bread so much that we actually bought them a loaf!

Fresh food & service with a HUGE smile

My partner and I ate lunch here following a recommendation from a local and we really enjoyed it! The decor is very appealing, with wooden floors throughout, as well as an outdoor dining area overlooking the beach. The menu is extensive with vegan, vegetarian and meat lover options. The dishes are served quickly with fresh ingredients and are very tasty! Best of all the staff enjoy working here, is great to see the kitchen and front of house staff all with big smiles of their faces! You can tell they take pride in the food they serve. We will be back for seconds soon :)

An absolute gem!

An absolute gem of a place! AMAZINGLY diverse, healthy, damn tasty and gorgeously nutritious plant based food which kept us coming back every day during our time on Koh Tao. This is unheard of for our young family of five boys as we like to spread our meals about especially when there is so much choice for good food. The rainbow bowl and vegan chilli were phenomenal as were the vegan chocolate truffles, vegan bannoffee pie, and banana bread. So reasonably priced also. Huge thanks to Anthony and his team who made us feel so welcome. The location was perfect as our boys got to beach play and swim under our watchful eyes with a darn good coffee (pay the 15 baht for the coconut milk which makes the brew just divine!) or vegan hot chocolate being sipped away. We will be going back to Koh Tao in six weeks time when our Easter/Songkran holiday begins mainly because it is a beautiful place and you have diving on your doorstep. However, having Coconut Monkey there as a regular place to eat and lounge is the absolute cherry on top and makes the island an absolute repeat go to!! Thank you Coconut Monkey!! See you again.

Totally unmissable - the salted caramel cheesecake will make you weep with joy!

We came here for breakfast prior to our dive with Master Divers. I had poached eggs and avo toast and my friend had pesto eggs - really good! Place has a great vegan menu too. We then popped back after getting our stuff ready for the dive for a coffee and the most delicious slice of salted caramel cheesecake (at risk of sinking during the dive!). The staff are really lovely and attentive and the vibe of this place makes it somewhere I could just spend the day - playing one of their board games or with my book. Great outside seating area and cool inside area. Good WiFi signal too if you need to work / catch up on life outside Koh Tao. Don’t miss this place!

Everything is amazing!

We ate at Coconut Monkey every day for breakfast and lunch, would have eaten there for dinner too if it didn’t close at 5pm. The coffee is fabulous, all the food is made fresh with quality ingredients and you can tell as it is so tasty. To be honest I have no idea how it can be made so cheap. 60 THB for 2 poached eggs on fresh whole meal bread - wow! I tried most of the menu vegetarian and meat, there wasn’t a dish I didn’t like. Some if my favourites were the roasted vegetable quesadilla, spaghetti and meatballs, homemade beef chili bowl, and of course the salted caramel cheesecake. We were diving and food was prepared quickly even if we needed to take away. The staff are super friendly, even when they are rushed off their feet. The location right on the sea front is a stunning way to start the day! Love it!

Totally delicious! Had options for my carnivore husband too. We had a coconut money shake, spaghetti vegan meatballs, cashew carrot salad, chicken quesadilla and salted caramel cheesecake and for the wholesome delicious homemade dishes, it was reasonably priced at 570 baht. Would be back every day if I could (hubby would complain). Great beach views and it was very busy!

It is a good place for relaxing and chilling. Foods and drinks are amazing! I really love salted caramel cheese cake, ginger kombucha, hot chocolate, diver wrap and raw carrot cake 😋 Price is reasonable. 😋 i visited this place almost everyday while staying on koh tao. 😌😌

Very average and boring

Food seemed fresh but the portion and the orange juice were quite small. The food didnt really have any taste. Also the staff seemed too busy to be friendly and they mixed up the order and the other dish was not what we ordered. I wouldnt go again.

Our portion of orange juice may appear small but we are happy to offer a full cup of premium quality orange juice, freshly pressed every day with no added sugar, water or ice. If you had any issue with your order, I wish I had been made aware of it so we could have resolved it. We always strive to have all of our customers leaving happy from their experience at Coconut Monkey. It is true we get busy at times but this is not an acceptable reason to not be friendly or not ensure the customers are happy with their orders and for that I am truly sorry. Safe travels.

6 star experience. Been there everyday at my stay in Koh Tao for a healthy and well cooked meal. They got THE BEST smoothies and juices and a nice view to come with it. And on top of all that, they make almond milk cappuccino 😍☕

Reliably tasty

As with all western style places on Koh Tao, it's not super cheap but at least with Coconut Monkey it's worth it. The loaded divers wrap & the coconut monkey shake are a particularly delicious and filling combo to prepare you for a hard day's holidaying. The lunch menu is good too and the setting (right on the beach) is just perfect. All that said I'd give the ice coffee/teas a miss (you can find better elsewhere) and stick with the shakes!

Cool Coconut Cafe

Cool, friendly beach cafe with comfy chairs. Great breakfasts, salads, smoothies, coffee and tasty one bite snacks to help you keep your diving energy up. Just next to Master Divers the cafe offers friendly service with a smile. Good range of options for vegetarians and vegans but also some decent beef chilli! Loved it look forward to coming back

I can't recommend Coconut Monkey enough for either breakfast or lunch. It offers very special and diverse food which just tastes incredibly good! It's definitely more trendy food, not traditional thai. A lot of it is veggie or even vegan but even I as an carnivore found it to be really good, despite (or because of?) the lack of meat. Fully recommend it, just try it! Dish sizes are enormous by the way. Definitely try the smoothies!

Great for breakfast!

Good vibes, right in the sea front. Ended up having breakfast here most mornings during our stay. The smoothies came in mason jars with bamboo straws so felt sustainable. Loaded divers wrap and avocado eggs were our favourite! Not the cheapest in Mae Haad but not the most expensive either!

Good food but not a great welcome

I was told how brilliant this place was, and I was looking forward to some breakfast but unfortunately I was made to feel unwelcome due to my nut allergy - the owner abruptly implied that everything may contain nuts, (she said that in a patronising manner) - I wanted to actually leave by then but I ordered a Spanish omelette and Cheesecake awkwardly feeling somewhat dismayed at her abruptness. I didn't get my cheesecake either, but just decided to pay and leave. The Spanish omelette was however gorgeous, the view of the beach was spectacular and the actual restaurant is beautiful too. The owners staff greeted me with a smile too. Not sure I would recommend to those who have severe nut allergies as I was put on edge by the owner but what I did get was a great omelette so the food does the talking and you should try it out regardless of what happened to me.

Delicious breakfast and well priced !

Delicious breakfast. I had the Veggie Breakfast and it was delicious! Added scrambled tofu as they were out of mushrooms and this was very flavoursome! Really lovely staff too. The cheesecake was really tasty, we got that to take away! Reasonable prices.
