I specifically told the waitress that I had a food allergy. We talked about it for 5 minutes. I get my plate and one of the salads had the ingredient I can't eat. I had a belly ache for 3 days.

A delicious coffee I love the traditional and this café-restaurant has it, its traditional decoration and the plants give it a natural ambiance. Their food is good and their desserts are the best. Something I also liked was their way of being with the customers,...they are respectful and polite and they recommend a variety of desserts. I will come back to this cafe.More

Life at 13 Minutes North of Latitude 0 Hotel; Asociación de Servicios Turísticos La Posada del Quinde ASOSERTURPOQUI (La Posada del Quinde) Where; Otavalo Quito y Miguel Egas Av Hotel, Restaurant and great times! It is with great pleasure I introduce you to the new...owners: Zaida, Blanca , Adriana, Luzmila, Gonzalo, Mayra and Virginia We have been going to Pachamamas for some time now. Comfy, warm, and inviting. The food ranges from great home style comfort food (my favorite is the Curry Chicken Pot pie) to wonderful veggie dishes. Breakfast, through snacks. Located not far from Plaza de Ponchos, an easy walk to anywhere in Otavalo and other communities. I cannot speak any more highly, if you are looking for a great place to stay or a yummy breakfast, lunch or dinner. The menu is way too large to list all the wonderful things to eat. You could eat there several days and not have the same thing twice, unless you have a favorite like me and the Curry Chicken Pot Pie! We were afraid we may have lost this treasure but things turned around and the great group of employees are now the new owners. Nothing has changed except for the better with new dishes planned on the menu……… Open airy, bright, comfy rooms, lovely gardens and the wonderful staff taking care of you just as if you were home with Mom! What more could you ask! With so much to see and do in and around Otavalo this is the perfect location as your base. So our last dining adventure there , on the 3rd day of the grand reopening was as tasty, comfortable and inviting as always. I had Curry chicken pot pie, my wife had the veggie llapingachos. And you cannot go without the hot chocolate cookie with ice cream. You will notice that there are photos of the dinner but only an empty bowl left of the dessert………. That is how good it is, the only thought is eating this warm chocolatey, gooey sweet tummy treat! So you will just have to get one of your own. We have often just gone for that. Let us not forget Pacha the resident sweet dog. I will admit I have spoiled her just a bit with dog cookies. I have missed her cute little face on my knee. She is very well behaved and will not bother you while eating……… unless you have cookies! All in all a sad heart-felt good-bye to the original owner and a warm welcome to the new ones. Though they have always been there cooking, helping and caring for you all this time. You will never know the difference except for the huge smiles on the faces of the new owners. Your stay either for a meal, a day or a week you will find a home of loving, caring folks and wonderful food. So come be a part of the family…… it maybe the best thing you do for yourself here in Ecuador!More

While at my recent stay I had the pleasure of dining at this wonderful cafe. The food was excellent and the service was great. I loved how I was able to find some local takes on food I was familiar with. I also appreciated the...vegetarian options which were fantastic. The veggie Lasagna, Mexican mole casserole, quinoa pancakes and the spicy pizza were among my favorites. If you are in the area please dine at this fantastic cafe. The women who run this place are amazing! Thank you.More

The best restaurant in Otavalo is Cafe Pachamama! A few blocks from the town center Plaza de Poncho. it has just re-opened & is better than ever. Serving breakfast (so delicious & included with your room if you're staying at the hacienda), lunch & dinner,...their menu is extensive, including USA items like sandwiches, pizza, hamburger as well as delicious Ecuadorian food. My favorite dinners eaten in front of their roaring fire are the curry chicken pot pie & stuffed pepper. Also, don't miss the french fries, new nachos dish & awesome desserts. BTW, if you are concerned about safety, the staff are meticulous about the water & food refrigeration.More

It just reopened as a co-op between the American owner and the local employees, and we were their first customers. The ladies were so sweet, and so proud and excited to be serving us as part owners. We loved it so much we came back...three times, once for dinner and twice for breakfast. We had the pizza for dinner which was stellar, and their "Pachamama breakfast" (full breakfast with organic coffee, fresh juice, excellent fruit salad, really nice fresh bread and jam, and your choice of eggs, yogurt and granola or oatmeal) both days because it was just so darn good. The ambience and service was great, the crackling fire, fresh flowers on the tables, every detail was done beautifully. We didn't get to hang around at night but they have a nice little bar and cozy sofas by the fire, plus tons of puzzles and games ( Cards Against Humanity, Bananagrams. Etc) that would make for some excellent evening entertainment after a long day exploring the market or the surrounding natural wonders. Highly highly recommend!More

Café Pachamama was an oasis for this vegetarian in Otavalo! There were so many delicious options. Each one was full of flavor and absolutely satisfying. My sons enjoyed the non-veggie options just as much. Beautiful Café, delicious food, diverse menu, and great staff.

The food is very Ecuadorean for the most part, but it is fused with some International flavor, like the Pot Pie, that was very good, it just needed some salt. A good desayuno too.

Due to an early departure the following day, we did not want to wait until 7PM to have dinner at our hacienda restaurant. Fortunately, Pachamama is open at all hours and we opted for a late afternoon dinner here. It was a nice choice. I...ordered a medium Hawaiian pizza and my wife ordered a hamburger. Both were great. Since the wine selection was limited, I ordered a Pilsener beer while my wife ordered a strong, but well-made pina colada. For dessert, I had carrot cake and my wife had pineapple upside down cake - neither was memorable. Service was relatively quick and a taxi back to the hacienda was called for us and arrived promptly after our meal.More

After reading the great reviews we had a high expectation of this restaurant. The hotel itself is lovely, but the food was very poor. We had 2 of their signature dishes. My spouse had the curry chicken pie, and I had the quinoa crusted shrimp,...and they were both underwhelming and very bland. Both dishes had almost no taste, and clearly had used very few spices. The best part of my meal was the pisco sour which was very good.More

We started with a dinner here that was so wonderful, we came back for breakfast the next morning. Both meals were well prepared and the service was excellent. Our table was near the fireplace, adding to the nice ambience. The next morning we had a...breakfast that no one could finish. The options were amazing, with vegetarian options that are rare to find in Ecuador. Eggs perfectly prepared, great Ecuadorian coffee, fresh yogurt and a fruit plate that was heaped with fresh, local fruits. Prices were very reasonable. From breakfast we walked perhaps 1/4 mile to the food and wares market. All-in-all a terrific experience and we will definitely be back.More
