Lovely courtyard, between creamy old stone walls, with vines overhead. Very picturesque, authentic & a lovely ambience to spend your evening in.
The food was delicious.
The only cooked starter is the prawn pralines (deep fried balls) The most interesting one was the marinated shrimps....The beetroot was a surprising huge hit, for the person who doesn't even really like beetroot, but didn't want a fish starter!
Mains were really well flavoured - nothing bland or disappointing here. We had sea urchin carbonara, seafood risotto, truffle & steak pasta, octopus tentacles. All delicious. For the octopus, it's served with rice crackers, & definitely needs these for some crunch & texture. There is a lot of puree /sauce elements on this dish, & extra bread is a good idea to be able to mop up. Even better if it came as toasted, for crunch!
We would have all welcomed some dressed greens / green veg garnish on the side, as part of each dish, to alleviate the carbs, rather than having to order a side to get this.
(we didn't)
Service was absolutely excellent. Very charming, knowledgeable & friendly. Always watchful - you only had to look around, & someone came straight away. We were in very good hands.
Also, generous - we weren't charged for extra bread, to mop up the delicious sauces. And because we were so full, & only ordered 3 of the 4 desserts, they brought us the 4th dessert anyway, free, to try.
Food was average price by Croatia standards for good quality, which means way more expensive than Dublin prices, everywhere we've been!!
Starters were €12 - €20, mains €23 for pasta to €40 for steak. A bottle of wine, as most other places, starts in high €20s & goes upwards. Ours was recommended for us, & suited the foods really well.More
