Fantastic location beside the sea with an amazing view of the St. Euphemia church and old town Rovinj. Food was perfect, the waiter was very nice and friendly, we felt welcome. We had pasta with shrimp, clams, fish soup, shrimp cream soup and istrian "maneštra"...(vegetable stew). The food was superb, prices are reasonable, portions are big. We would recommend and will come again!More
Restaurant is in a really good spot with great view. Waiters are friendly, table presence is good. All the good signs. Food is on a pricey side, but that's to be expected for this location, especially seeing good rating on the social sites for this...place. We ordered and food arrived reasonably fast. Food is quite tasty as well, but here comes the red flag - portion is incredibly small. Personally, I don't mind paying some extra for the view, location, tourist season and all that, but if the portion size leaves me with "I'll go somewhere else now and have proper meal", I won't ever come back. I wonder what the size of the starter is, as this was "main course meal" (probably for ten year old).
To sum it up: tasty, but don't come hungry, you will be disappointed - I felt cheated.
For reference, I ordered "home made ravioli with cheese in truffels sauce".
P.S. Punchline - meal was served in a huge plate, for an extra insult point :). In hindsight, I'm sorry I didn't take a photo of the meal ...More
This restaurant is on great location with a view on Rovinj! Couple of friends and I shared fisherman's flatbread and different kinds of pasta. Everything we tried was great! Prices are reasonable. Deffinitely recommended!
31/8/20 - We three middle aged London guys arrived from Pula by coach at 13:15 on a Monday. As we left the bus station it began to rain. We could not check in to our Apartman Villa Mattosi till 14:00 so we decided to have...a coffee and beer. The rain got worse. The bus station cafe was too busy, noisy and had no view. I headed for the quayside and saw this posh establishment in the distance with a few people in. The rain got worse still more! My friends struggled behind under an umbrella and I made it to the bar to look at the menu. The view was magnificent and I threw caution to the wind to backtrack to my friends sheltering to say let’s do it! We all arrived at 13:25 to find cheerful staff who welcomed us bedraggled wet customers. The place only had five people on the terrace and all the tables were ‘reserved’. Oh dear.... we asked if we could sit and the friendly waiter said of course and took away the marker on the corner table with the best view in town.
The rain got worse, I put on a jacket as quite chilled from my wet clothes. We settled and the food and drink menus were delivered. We only wanted a drink but looked at the food menu just in case and we might have wanted to eat there in the evening. Yes the drinks and food were more expensive than we usually pay for but the view was great and we were out of the rain!
The young waiter took our order and it arrived very quickly by 13:34. My friends said their drought beers were very good. My coffee was fine but I don’t usually drink coffee anywhere, but I was cold and wet and did not want an alcohol downer.
As we drank a young couple arrived and took a table close by. The rain continued.
The shutters were lowered as the wind blew rain into the terrace. Our bags by the edge got quite wet as we did not realise the spray blowing across. We appreciated and finished the drinks and ordered the bill at about 14:10. It came quickly and we paid the 73 by contactless and left a 7 tip in cash. The rain continued. We tried to book an Uber to the apartment (only 700m away) but none were available. We ‘unpacked’ a couple of times as the rain eased off and belted down occasionally. The staff did not chase us out which was very noble of them! We phoned the apartment owners which lived on site so were not worried about when we might arrive. Eventually there was a lull in the rain at 14:50 and we ‘packed’ and bad farewell to our patient hosts. Off we went into the puddles and rivers in the road, being sprayed by passing high speed cars, oh well!
It seems that the ‘Reserved’ signs on tables were because of expected lunch guests who never showed due to the weather. The young couple who had arrived ordered a meal and seemed to be enjoying after when it arrived. Thankfully they let us have a table on a first come first served basis. There were a few tables spare throughout our stay as the weather had put so many people off.
When we arrived at our apartment this place was recommended by Ivan our host as his go to restaurant but he thought it would be closed today because of the weather, we reassured him it was open, albeit quiet.
We checked out the more family run Skver (#47 on TA, Maestral was 24) but marked as $! M was $$-$$$ but they were both similar prices, odd! S was busier at 14:53 with a couple of groups of Germans, and the selection of fish dishes was much larger than M. We are still debating which to go to! We are here for three nights, so maybe both.......?
We passed by at a dry and near cloudless sunset a day later and it was certainly busier with one of the best views around. We did not pop in as wanted to tour the old town. We ate there instead.More
Great food and a great view. We ate tuna steak and a pizza. Pizza isn't on the picture because I had to wait 5 more minutes for it but it was good. Staff was nice and friendly, i highly recommend this place.
The hostess was extremly rude with no willingness of problem solving. We had to wait for our previously reserved table. Finally after 15-20 min. she said that we can sit down to our table. We just set down when this “lady” came to us and...asked us to leave. When we asked for the manager or the owner to complain she claimed to be the manager and the owner, which is hard to believe but it is very sad if its true. I do not recommend this restaurant at all!More
We have stopped at this little restaurant almost every day for a quick, post beach late afternoon snack and glass of wine. Their slightly sparkling White House wine is divine and the sea food is delicious and fresh, cooked in the open kitchen.
However, on...two of the visits where the maitre’d was on shift have been less than relaxing. She merely sits in the corner shouting that every table is reserved (which they are but not until two hours later).
All the other staff we have encountered have been very pleasant, friendly and efficient, however they are visibly flustered when she is around.
-1 star due to maitre d ruining the ambience. Nothing but praise for the rest of the staffMore
We went there for lunch: at entrance they asked us for masks (as first ones in Croatia!!!) then we went to the table, took of mask and got the best pizza we had so far on Croatia!
After we left-some from the team came and...desinfected the table and chairs!! For me the frontrunners in fighting the virus in a Tourist area and shows its possible to keep people healthy.More
