First of all, it is important to say that this restaurant is an example of a good restaurant. I would say that overall it satisfied my expectations. Nice atmosphere, although a bit cold inside. More heating would be nice for a cosy atmosphere. Portions are good, not too much not little, enough for everyone. We had for starters risotto with mushrooms, spring rolls and some kind of pastry filled with cheese, and for the main course we had cow calf cheeks, pork loin and some ribs. Very nice and tasteful. However, the kitchen and waiters should take more care about the time serving between two courses. We had a feeling that they want to get rid of us very quickly, namely we were served one dish after another. Overall 4/5, and will visit again.

A little dream at a small castle. Great food, nice appetizers, a main course at its finest for carnivores, the vegetarians are also not neglected. Staff very friendly and attentive. Price performance is 100% correct

We came to visit old town Dubovec and decided to have cup of coffee there. Luckily we tried local cake, strudli. It was so well prepared and filling was with pear, dates and walnuts! It was amazing! As well, we tried with plums which is more traditional. Very good!

Unfortunatelly, food is not as good as it was.
The staff is pleasant but food is significantly worse than before (especially chicken with pea pasta, it is not edible).
Every summer we stop here for a lunch but think this was our last time.

We were really looking forward and heard only great things about this place, but we were dissapointed very soon. The waiter was unpleasant and it seemed he wanted to get rid of us, althought there were only2 small parties of guests there. He wasnt't in the mood to help us with ordering when we kindly asked for a reccomendation. Mushroom soup tasted like instant soup from a bag. The sauces on the pašticada and cheeks seemed like instant gravy, terrible colour and artifical taste. The pašticada we got was basically NOT that dish. The side of mashed potatoes was watery and terrible, again seemed like instant mash from a box.the duck liver risotto was very bland and lacked taste. Its a shame since the setting is beautifull. Seems like they were having a bad in the kitchen. Hopefully, others will have a better experience...

Bistro is lkcated a bit away from highway but worth to drive 10 mins by city and up the hill.
Nice castle. Quiet neighbourhood. Pretty relaxing music. And wide menu. From starters by lunch light meals up to regular dishes.
Focused on beef but there are also s9me other options.

Quite by chance, looking for Gmaps (who has ever stopped in...) we came across this location and decided to have lunch and look around the castle. A very pleasant surprise - the service is great, the food is good - the daily offer includes an excellent veal shank, the wine list could be much better, but overall 5/5. Let's go see the castle...

First of all, ambient is great. This bistro is set in an old castle. You can see the whole town from here and the view is really amazing.
Burgers thate we ate were good, potatoes on the side also. They have big kids menu with chicken sticks and potatoes. Service was quick and very friendly, prices are acceptable for that kind of ambient and food.
We will definetly visit again.

The place is not too big, and it is situated in an old castle. Whatever you pick will taste great.
The prices are in a mid-to-expensive range, but not too expensive. I'd say that prices are quite affordable for the quality of the food you get.

Bistro Kastel is one of the best restaurants in Karlovac, if not the best, and even beyond. The location is fantastic on a small hill with a view of the city and the interior of the old beautiful castle is phenomenal, and of course the most important of all is the food, so whatever you order you won't go wrong, and my recommendation would be the homemade venison spits in a sweet and sour sauce, and homemade gnocchi with steak and truffles.
