When we spent three nights in Hvar in June last year we ended up eating here on our first night purely because (a) it was recommended to us by our host and (b) it was directly opposite our apartment so we did not have to face another 20 minute walk into the centre of Hvar and back again. However I can honestly say that I was so glad we did. My husband had made a reservation and when we first arrived and for a bit afterwards I felt that had been unnecessary as we were the only ones there. This also made me feel a bit guilty at them having to serve us. However as the evening progressed and more people arrived it became clear that it is a case of customers eating late! Anyway turning to the food. To be honest 6 months on I cannot remember what we actually had to eat apart from remember saying to my husband that whilst my main course was simple it was so delightful that I was pleased we had decided to eat there. I think in my case it was probably lamb. Either way I enjoyed it so much. This was then followed by chocolate fondant which was cooked to perfection. So to put it short if in the vicinity make sure you go, if not book a taxi and take yourself up to the restaurant as well worth the visit. As an asideand nothing to do with the quality of the food, or service or value you might want to eat inside the restaurant as opposed to outside if you are likely to be attractive to insects. We ate outside and coincidentally found the next day that I had a bite where my arm had been resting on the small wall beside our table.

My partner and I have eaten here now on three occasions during our holiday, we have really enjoyed the food and overall experience dining at the Agava. We had seafood on all three nights and it was extremely good. Chocolate soufflé for desert is amazing! The location has a lovely atmosphere and the service is very warm / friendly, We would highly recommend the restaurant and a must to try if you are in Hvar!

This has been our favourite restaurant in Hvar. Tucked away in a quiet location away from the crowds this place offers a little haven of romantic relaxation. The food whether it’s meat or fish is absolutely delicious and excellent quality. It offers the chance to eat fresh and healthy. We couldn’t fault the service either and love the passion of the owner. We especially like that it is not for big groups which adds to the tranquility of this lovely restaurant.

The food was very good, although nothing fancy. However, the wine (I had red) was exceptional. The owner was very nice and seem to know a lot about local wine. I’m so glad I found this place during my short visit in Hvar.

The food was amazing followed by great service. We would definitely return here. It is more on the expensive side and the menu is relatively small, however is worth it!

My wife and I had dinner here on a balmy night. Lovely atmosphere on the terrace and an excellent meal, with attentive service. Located in a quiet part of town.

Very nice restaurant near near to the truly gorgeous Blue Bay residence where we were staying. Food and service were excellent and we enjoyed a lovely balmy evening on the outside terrace for our meal.

Unfortunately far below our expectations this place. Tasty food but nothing more special than the terraces in the center where you can eat at half price. And the portions are very small, so small that after leaving the table we went to the city center and ate again, because a platter of 2 pers contains 400 gr of fish and 4 pieces of shrimp.

Dear guest, Thank you for your review. I usually don’t respond to reviews but you caught my attention because you left hungry and found the bill expensive. There were three of you. You ordered chicken salad for yourself, and fish and scampi to be shared by two persons, which consisted of 1st class fish fillet and half a kilo of Adriatic scampi. I’m sure the salad didn’t fill you up, after all it’s a starter. 1kg of Adriatic fish costs 500kn and 1kg of scampi costs 480kg (14-16 pieces, depending on weight). Your total bill was 640kn for three people, with drinks included. You can certainly spare yourself the walk from the centre and back, as well as save by eating elsewhere, especially if it’s the same to you whether you eat a 1st class fish, or the one from the breeding pool. Fish from the breeding pool would always be half priced. Kind regards, Zeljko

Just really don’t miss this cozy little place! Our dinner was spearfished that morning by the owner... the wine hit my top favorite list , and conversation with the owner made us love it even more. In a sea of crowded loud restaurants, Agave is a gem.

Nice restaurant outside the city of Hvar, worth a visit! The service was great and genuine. No view but they've made it very cosy. The fish (catch of the day) was very fresh and tasty. We got some bread with olive & tuna paste before dinner and also grappa afterwards. A little bit expensive, but still one of the better restaurants we visited in Croatia. It felt like a more high-standard restaurant than others in Hvar.

One should definitely make a reservation to be on the safe side. We were early there when the place opened, after a long car drive to the island and Hvar. We were so tired, our phones somehow did not work, etc, but very lucky, as we managed to get seated at a table. It is a modern romantic place. The waiter was really attentive and helpful, and what was recommended was just excellent: seafood, the local wine, antipasti.

My wife and I had a terrific dinner last night at Agava. It is easy to understand the ratings this konoba gets. Our host was welcoming and made us feel like family. He highlighted the freshest specials of the day, but also offered to mix and match any of the items on the menu, to our liking. The food was outstanding and the setting romantic......we sat on a four table patio - with table side candles flickering in the light breeze. Some complementary homemade after-dinner prosek capped off a beautiful evening. Would return in a heartbeat. One of the best dinners we had over two weeks in Croatia. Thank you for a great evening!!!!!

I visited this restaurant with a friend for dinner and we really enjoyed it! PROS: - very cute location with nice exterior decor - far from everything so not very crowded - brought us a free appetizer - wine choice was good - schnitzel was cooked to perfection and so was the shrimp tagliatelle (though Italians may consider it a little over cooked) CONS: - 20 minute walk from the harbour with a bit of up hill - waiter wasn’t professional in terms of judging our meal choice (when i chose the schnitzel he said it was a shame to choose that considering I was in Croatia) - worth noting that this an expensive restaurant I recommend this restaurant if you can afford it, enjoy well cooked food, want somewhere quiet/relaxing or romantic, and if you don’t mind a little stroll from the main harbour.
