Overrated We had as apetizer octopus salad: it was just ocotpus with olive oil and some herbs! When you say salad you mean more than 1 ingredient...they could rename it “marinated octopus”. The octopus salad is what those guys in Toto’s are doing. For the...main dish we had grilled squid and mussels. The mussels were tasty. I asked the waiter to be well cleaned the squid (inside). He told me not to worry it is a standard procedure here! 1 squid out of 2 was not cleaned at all..it was not that they missed a little bit...it was in the very natural state as from the capture. For a restaurant as Macondo is something you simply don t do!! I told the waiter and he somehow tried to apologize, but explained me in the same time how they, the locals and fishermans are eating the squid without cleaning it before. Well, I am not interested in their habbits as long as I am paying a lot of money for my dinner!More

We found the food in Hvar not as tasty as in Split and so it was with Macondo. We ordered lobster pasta and although they insisted it was fresh, it really did not taste so, having a slightly powdery texture. Some of my scampi looked...a little raw although they insisted that was the way they cook it. Wondered why the others were pink instead of grey. People rave about the food here but our reality is that the seafood in Split was much better, not to mention cheaper.More

Lovely street dining with great atmosphere. We asked the waiter for recommendation on our dinner order and he offered the lobster spaghetti and a local wine without hesitation. We enjoyed every bite and are so glad we asked. The staff was kind and used COVID...cleaning procedures. Dog friendly, too!More

I went there with my partner who doesnt eat fish, so he ordered cordon blu and fries. Which was tasty, so he enjoyed it but the waiter (older one) made a few unappropriate coments how he is ordering Mc Donalds food and make fun of...him. It was imberasing. If you don't want to serve fries, don't put it on the menu!More

The waitress at the wine bar next door recommended this restaurant. Great suggestion. Reservations recommended. Cash only. Our waiter did a great job explaining the fresh catch of the day. Per his suggestion, we tried the John Dory and scorpion fish. He did a great...job deboning the fish for us. The fish was very well prepared and fresh. Beautiful setting in old town down an old narrow street. Great wine pairings. A must if you have a taste for fresh local seafood.More

This was our dinner choice for our one night in Hvar. Best dinner we’ve had since being 10 days into a European Vacation. Food was fresh, prepared properly & delicious. No complaints. Cheese was a mixture of cow & sheep only from Hvar. Same with...the white wine. Fish & beef were local and so tasty. Deserved of 5/5.More

Food (seafood, soup) was average, much salted. Waiter became critical when he saw our unfinished food. Perhaps we came at the wrong busy time.
