A very nice place in a side road to Hvar harbour with friendly staff and very good food. No fine dining but very solid and tasty dishes and a pretty nice outdoor atmosphere

We found this restaurant almost by accident. It’s tucked away off the main drag - but we are so glad we did. Service was really friendly and engaged - best we had on the island by a country mile. “Chef’s appetisers” were a really nice...touch and the quality of the food was terrific - we had the shrimp risotto and black truffle gnocchi - both were really tasty. By far the best meal we had in 6 nights - to be honest most of the other restaurants we tried were pretty mediocre.More

We decided to have dinner here after not being able to make a reservation on-line. We had no problem getting a table (it is October) and were not disappointed by the high quality of the food and the service. We ordered the “Amor” sliced octopus,...risotto with shrimp in creamy white wine sauce, fish fillet “Grenada” with white wine sauce, and grilled vegetables. The octopus was especially good, and our mains were both very tasty. Excellent service and wine selection. Highly recommended.More

The service and food at Dalmatino is exceptional. My husband is coeliac and we felt very safe here, ordering and eating gluten free. They have a number of gnocchi options which are all gluten free, and we both thoroughly enjoyed our food. The staff added...some lovely touches such a complimentary starter and a small liqueur each to welcome us. They are very knowledgeable on the food and wine, and so happy to help. I tried to book a month in advance and they were fully booked outside, so I was added to their waitlist. On the night, we chose to sit sooner, and sit inside and it was very pleasant and comfortable. A number of tables sat inside and then moved outside when a table became available. Possibly, the inside lights could have been dimmed a little to add more of an atmosphere, but that's really my only piece of constructive feedback. Highly recommended.More

We had a great dinner here. We ordered the Tuna Steak, Whitefish Filet and Steak. They offer indoor and outdoor seating. The servers were exceptional. Very friendly and attentive. I am not sure if they accept reservations. If not, get there early since they are...so busy. I would recommend and would not hesitate to return.More

Food, service and atmosphere were 10/10. I am celiac and although I found most restaurants in Hvar to be accommodating, the servers at Dalmatino went over-and-above to ensure I was safe. Reservations required but absolutely worth it.

We visited Hvar in June as part of a cruise with the whole family and we had the best meal of the whole week. Based on that, my wife and I came back to Hvar for a week for our anniversary in September and had...lunch twice and dinner on our anniversary. The food is amazing. The gnocchi, the steaks, and the seafood are all great. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. And they handle gluten free with sensitivity and understanding. We tried lots of restaurants in Hvar, and some were really good, but this is one of our favorite restaurants in the world, not just Hvar.More

This was the best meal of our trip thru Croatia, Glad we made reservations (which you really need as they were full on a Monday night). Service was PERFECT and done as a team so you didn’t have to just flag your waiter. They went...over each dish to make sure you knew what it was and any allergies. There was a brief rain storm while we were there but even though on patio the covering was more then enough to keep everyone dry. HIGHLY recommended. I had the octopus and the gnocchi, hubby had filet with fois gris. All was amazing. Speedy service but in no way rushed. They deserve the reputation they have - Highly recommended by this foodie coupleMore

Never have I ever experienced such courtesy in a restaurant - apart from The Ivy in London. This perfect, and extremely popular restaurant is on a back street just off the town square. From booking a place on the waiting list, the whole experience was...superb. Fast response via email and we were advised that being on the waiting list could, possibly, mean a wait of about 30 mins to an hour on arrival. But is that really a problem? No, as there are many bars in the immediate area that you can partake of a drink or cocktail and the knowledge that, once you are seated, there is NO pressure to have you leave once you've finished your meal. THAT is why you 'might' need to wait to be seated. But once you are, The Maitre D, Stefan, seats you, pulls the chair out for the ladies and even provides a handbag clip to ensure that said bag is not on the floor! We were seated on the patio - on both visits. (Yes, it was so good that we had to visit twice within a week). *It's worth noting here that if you return, you get a 10% discount. As Stefan spoke with us, he crouched down - as did the waiters (I'm so sorry, but I can't remember all of their names) - to be able to speak with us at eye-level. It's all these little things that make the diner feel incredibly welcome and valued. Whilst browsing the delicious menu, you're brought 2 pieces of carob and a carob liqueur. The idea being that you chew on the carob to get the taste of the raw product and then drink the liqueur to get an even better taste. This is compliments of the Dalmatino. Whilst the menu isn't vast, there is a plentiful choice of meat, fish and vegetarian/vegan dishes. (You're asked if you have any dietary requirements or allergies). On our second visit, my friend who loves fish, decided on the John Dory. What he failed to realise was that the dish is for 2 people - he ate the lot, lol. But the fish is served whole and the waiter fileted it at the table. On the first visit, he had the 'surf and turf' which arrived with 'Johnny the langoustine' holding onto the steak. I had the tuna steaks and vegetable soup - which was green but so delicious. There were also various gnocchi and pasta dishes on the menu. (I wish I'd taken a photo of the menu now). Let them know beforehand if you are there to celebrate a birthday, anniversary or whatever, and they'll give you a treat. I cannot praise The Dalmatino and its staff enough and I would highly recommend a visit here. Should I ever return to Hvar Island, I'm sure that I'll be booking a table again. (I'll add the photos that I did manage to take as soon as I can work out how to get them from my phone to the PC, lol)More

This restaurant is one of the finest of the island if not the best. We had te gnocchis with black truffles and the local specialtity called "Pasticada" and both were simply delicious. For dessert we also had the granny's home made cake and the mediterranean...banana, and both were also very good. Waiters were happy to help and to advise on some dished and wines, and even offered us some local brandy at the end; it really worthed a michelin-star in terms of service. Reservation abstolutely required, ask to be seated outside; ideal for a romantic dinner.More

This place is truly exceptional. Our receptionist at our hotel recommended we visit here and wow we were impressed! So impressed that we returned again 2 nights later :) The service is top tier and the food is truly amazing, and it can all be...enjoyed while sat in a lovely side street listening to live music. Absolutely brilliant restaurant - we will be back on our next trip to Hvar!More
