Our story began back in 1998. Since then, Ankora has undergone several transformations. With our ideas, we tried to be ahead of our time. Sometimes we succeeded, sometimes we did not. Through trial and error, we have come to realize that love for tradition, history, and home-grown food is the only right path. Today, Ankora represents an ode to the flavors of the south, the flavors of our childhood!

In the see of fabric ice creams, in wine bar Ankora you can find and taste something different, something better. In converstion with waiter, he said that ice cream is a home made and all ingredients, like fruits are from local suplieres and you can feel that. It was really nice to try something with this grade of quality. Vegan flavors are my favorite!

You visit most of the bars and restaurants in Cavtat and almost without exception you will find friendly and attentive service in a beautiful setting. All of this is true at Ankora, but they go that little bit further.
The setting of Ankora is amazing, particularly late afternoon/early evening when you pick the best spot in town for a view of the comings and going in the harbour and obviously a prime place for people watching.
They serve up a range of mainly light meals from breakfast till late. We took in a couple of breakfasts, a lunch and some creative evening tapas. All were well presented and delicious.
A good range of beers, wines and superb cocktails helped the chill out mood some more.
But what sets the place apart is the service - we dealt with the delightful Albert and Alen. Professional and helpful, yet always time for a chat about life and a great sense of humour. An eclectic play list, I refuse to say which one was better. Always made to feel welcome, we were particularly saddened to say goodbye. Give the best bar in Cavtat a go, you will love it.

Excellent, fun restaurant and wine bar. The food, cocktails and wines are excellent. The menu caters for breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner with a great tapas selection or just pop in for coffee and people watch. There is also a fab selection of homemade ice cream! The owner also offers wine tasting which we found great fun and really good value for money. A must when in Cavtat. I cant finish this review without mentioning the excellent staff, outstanding 👏

Ankora is a fab, modern place on a Cavtat promenade The drinks and food offerings are imaginative and tasty, and the staff are just lovely- always efficient, helpful and greet you with a smile - even though it looks like they are working all day long every day in a week.
The Mint Blast is a must drink on a hot afternoon, cocktails in the evenings just hit the spot, gazpacho and tapa Adriatic were personal food favourites. We loved it and would highly recommend a visit!

You are really spoiled for choice for restaurant options in Cavtat so I always look out for local ingredients, fresh cooked food and the “about us” on the website. I don’t like to feel I’m just “cash in the till”, I like to support family run restaurants and, doing all the cooking at home, I want the same or better standard when out.
With all this in mind I came across Ankora, a restaurant overlooking the water that looked like it would tick all the boxes.
I went in person to book ahead and I was greeted by a very smiley waiter who asked me to choose where my party wanted to sit and assured me of a good night which was not wrong.
When we arrived our table was laid out perfectly and we were again given a very warm and attentive welcome by Boban(hope I’m correct in my spelling) our waiter for the evening.
Straight away we felt relaxed as we looked over the menu. Boban recommended some signature cocktails for us which were all delicious and beautifully presented.
We shared oysters and tune for starters and opted for the Al forno and a pasta and fish stew and tuna steak for mains. All the dishes were just what I had hoped for all washed down by a sparkling Croatian wine.
Getting the playing cards out while we rested and digested before dessert, Boban kept our glasses filled but also gave us plenty of time before bringing out the dessert menu.
We opted for a semi fredo and dessert wine both of which were lovely.
The manager of the restaurant made time to come over and chat to us which was a nice touch. All in all we were very impressed with Ankora. If you are looking for attentive service where you’re not having to catch the eye of the waiter, fresh tasty food and an extremely warm welcome this is the place for you.

All our recipes are from old cookbooks from grannies who were willing to share their secrets with us! Means a lot that you noticed the vibe we are trying to create with our dishes.

We visited Ankora three times during our stay in Cavtat; twice for coffee and once for an evening meal. Service was always friendly, particularly during our evening meal when the atmosphere was a bit more relaxed. Our food was very high quality, tasty and good value for money. The menu isn’t the biggest but don’t let this put you off - the chefs know what they’re doing! Would highly recommend.

Our family recently traveled in Croatia for two weeks and stayed close to Cavtat. It is difficult to find a restaurant where our vegetarian youngest daughter can eat at the same place with our picky oldest daughter. My wife looked up restaurants in Cavtat and we decided that the two of us should try it out for lunch prior to bringing the family.
We had two incredible waiters, Dajun (hope I spelled his name correctly) and another one that had to leave prior to us getting his name. Both helped us understand the menu and what dish to bring out in order of how we should eat them. We started with the gazpacho soup and knew we were in for a treat. Next came the Tuna Confit, then the Basil Tofu Salad and Burrata Salad and finally the Stuffed Homemade Gnocchi. We both had the L'Appertivo Spritz and all I can say is wow! A perfect lunch with fresh ingredients that really demonstrated some creativity.
We made a dinner reservation for our family for later in that day knowing that our daughters would find something on the menu that would be incredible. Coming for dinner later, I went back to the Gazpacho, while others had the eggplant tartar and the beef ragu. All were very tasty and set us up for our main meals. My vegetarian daughter loved the Basil Tofu Sald and probably would have had another one if we would have had the starters. My other daughter, the picky eater, had the Ribeye that was seasoned and cooked perfectly. Finally my wife went with the baked eggplant with a Basil Lavender Margarita and I had the Lamb Pasticada with a glass of the Plausus (maybe the best glass of wine I have had in years) thanks to the recommendation of our waiter. Everything was done with care and you could tell from the taste that all of the ingredients were fresh.
Each visit we had great conversations with our waiters and could tell that they enjoyed working at Ankora and knew the menu very well.
I'm so happy that we chose Ankora as for our last day in Croatia. It put the finishing touches on for holiday.

Absolutely fantastic. We came every single day for the best coffee in town, with mint blasts being the perfect remedy against the heat. The waiters honestly shine: incredibly friendly and working themselves almost too hard to ensure a great experience! A perfect position on the promenade with a beautiful vista. Their sandwiches are incredibly rich, and their cocktails offer a vivid end to your night. We will sorely miss this place.

Despite only just opening, we could not have been more delighted to have coincided our visit with the recent restaurant opening. The staff and management were extremely friendly and more than helpful to describe the dishes in more detail. The food was nothing short of delicious, fresh, tasty and every bit with a story or history as to where it has been sourced or traditionally handed down. Would highly recommend you try for yourself, a pure delight, all served up in such a warm and welcoming environment. Can't wait to revist and wish the restaurant every success in the future. We came to Ankora to celebrate a birthday and definitely made the right choice. As soon as we arrived the staff were very friendly and welcoming, and the menu offered a nice change in offerings compared to the majority of the other Cavtat restaurants (particularly in terms of their vegetarian dishes). Our food was delicious- the eggplant casserole, though small, was full of flavour and came out piping hot; the shared fish stew with pasta had a good range of beautifully cooked fish and was thoroughly enjoyed. The desserts were just as good and again, weren’t things we’d seen on other menus. Ankora was slightly more expensive than some of the other places we ate at during our holiday, but it’s worth it for the quality.

We had looked at the reviews online prior to arriving in Cavtat as we knew we were coming for dinner!
We picked this restaurant over one other due to the waiter coming over to talk us through the menu. Two of us also have a milk allergy so eating out can be difficult sometimes.
They catered for us so well and didn’t seem phased by adapting the menu, which we greatly appreciated. It also showed how fresh the food was.
Food was amazing! All very fresh and flavoursome. Meat was tender. Wine was moorish. We would have stayed for another glass but our toddler had to get to bed.
Worth a visit if you are in Cavtat.

Immaculate, professional service from charming staff .
It offered an interesting and , innovative menu and when it came the food did not disappoint - delicious meals beautifully presented .
In a small tourist town where many restaurants catered mostly for the mass tourist market it was a delight to find one that was different .

This is a place for foodies, and those keen to enjoy Croatian wine. We first visited early afternoon, got chatting with the passionate owner who advised us on the wines they offer. We tried a couple of whites, including the sublime Pusipel Dvanajscak, and realised his enthusiasm was well-founded. We returned for dinner and although the menu is small (only 5 or 6 dishes) it was the food highlight of our week long stay. The Tuna steak and the slow-roasted lamb were the dishes we went for - both memorable. And the service was upbeat and joyful throughout. My only regret is that we didn't discover the restaurant sooner!

It is never too late to discover something that puts a smile on one's face!
We are proud winegrowers by profession trying to bring to the table the best Croatia has to offer wine wise. Winery Dvanajščak - Kozol makes some of the best fresh white wines in Croatia, and have been our partners for many years.
Lamb dish is our most authentic dish and we are happy that you liked it!

Excellent service and fine food. 3 adults enjoyed tasting menu between 16-18 two days in one week for only 189 kn per person. It is all about taste and texture and cooking to perfection. Dont let the cafe style seating fool you, they spend everything on what you get on the plate.

Great location for people and boat watching. The menu is different to lots of the local restaurants and you can taste the quality of the ingredients. We had the aubergine and the burrata both were lovely and ideal for a light lunch or starter. The service was easy and unassuming. The wine which was recommended was perfect and light for a lunch time drink and while the aperitivo might seem expensive it was unique with a sprig of rosemary. Planning to o back with my in laws later this week. Definitely worth a visit especially if you are looking for a menu that is a little different.
