This is a fabulous place to dine and wine! I cant say enough great things about this place. I have never been to the front restaurant as you need reservations, but have dined in the back house about 5 times. It is the same menu as the front and the menu changes often. Pick your wine while you wait for... More

Go for the food, and not for decoration. Enjoy some of the best Italian food in Birmingham. The seating can get tight. Watching the cooks bantering and dishing out food in the kitchen makes it a personal, family affair.

My husband ate for our 22nd anniversary. We had the oyster appetizer and the homemade ravioli special appetizer too. Both were fabulous! We went on a Monday night and people were waiting for a table. This shows how amazing! We had made a reservation, so I would definitely recommend reserving a table. I do wish we had ordered the veal... More

One of the best restaurants in Birmingham, and in the South for that matter. The lasagna is exquisite. Their nightly specials are all so good it actually makes it difficult to decide what to order. They've recently stepped it up another notch by using organic Joyce Farms chicken and beef in their menu items. Now great has become even greater.... More

Here's the secret. The midday food is just as good as evening and prices are slashed. Rick and Marilee got the crab cakes; Harriet got the pork tenderloin ( ridiculously good) and I got the sausage and peppers over spaghetti. After I ate half of it, I took a photo. I took the other half home. That's two great meals... More

We arrived a bit before the 5 pm start of service so we could wine shop for dinner and enjoyment. The staff was very helpful in selecting wines even in the midst of their preps for dinner service. That is just the kind of service Gianmarco's offers to everyone who visits. The regular menu is terrific and the nightly specials... More

Six of us arrived and the place was packed. We ended up eating at a small, high-top table that would have been suitable for two or perhaps four people. My wife and I picked up a bottle of wine which was priced at a normal retail price. This bottle of wine would have been close to $100 at a regular... More

This is an update to the review I wrote almost exactly two years ago (see my review from July 2014 with a similar title). I was looking forward to a return visit to the Birmingham area so I could again eat at the wine bar at Gianmarco's. Happily, everything was exactly the same as it was two years ago. The... More

Visit the small wine venue behind the main restaurant for lower prices on wine, a quaint locale and great food.
