Korean section of the menu

When you dine here, try the items from the Korean section of the menu. It's Chinese food, but the type that originated in Korea. It's prevalent in cites like LA, Dallas, NYC and other larger cities to an extent, but to find a place that makes this type of food in a smaller city like Birmingham was a very pleasant surprise. I love jajangmyun and cham-pong. Their jajangmyun is solid, but it is the cham-pong that is the star attraction. It has a rich broth and the usual ingredients, but the amount of shrimp they put in is way above average. Speaking of going the extra mile, they also put in a few large scallops, which is uncommon in a good way. I also enjoy the charm of the cool but kind of crabby older gentleman server. Those who frequent this type of place, know exactly what I'm talking about.

Food is spot on and the offer traditional dishes along with the usual Americanized fare. Staff is friendly and glad to handle special requests.

Friendly and fast

Very friendly staff and the food is very good. My only complaint is they overload dishes with garlic that normally have very little or no garlic elsewhere.

This is a hole in the wall place. They serve authentic Chinese food that is always good. The service is wonderful. Be sure to try the Egg Drop Soup. It is phenomenal.

Tasty Food and Attentive Staff

I have often eaten here. I have eaten almost every chicken dish they offer and I have never been disappointed. The wait staff is kind, attentive and always gets my orders right.

Good, but not as good as before

Lunch last Saturday. Good hot soup and excellent egg roll. Entree not as tasty as before. Probably less MSG! But I gained 4 pounds! Still one of our favorite places to eat.

When you have that craving for Chinese food, go to Hunan

My wife and I have been eating at Hunan for over 15 years. It has been consistently outstanding over the years and still is. We recently had Kung Pao shrimp, chicken chow mein, sweet and sour chicken and Mongolian beef. All were excellent. This modest family-owned and operated restaurant should be at the top of your list for Chinese food and now Korean as well. They never disappoint.

Favorite Chinese place

We've eaten at a hundred Chinese places in many different states. This one is the best by far. Plenty of garlic in the beef with snow peas. Plenty of rice noodles in the Mongolian beef. Best egg drop soup we've ever eaten. Excellent fried wontons. Never had a bad experience here. They apparently do a lot of takeout as well. Yes it's a hole in the wall but well worth the effort to cross 280 to get here.

This won't be a long winded review. I crave Chinese food about once a month or so and they do a good job to meet my "fix". I've rarely dined in - mostly Togo orders. Always friendly, fast and meets my expectations. Not NYC standards but good for the area. Have my favs and always pleased with the flavor.

Great food and fast delivery

First time trying this restaurant. Telephone service was great and helpful. Delivery time quicker than estimate. Food tasted great. Had the Mongolian Delight, vegetable fried rice and Hunan chicken. Seasoned very well and not over done. Highly recommended! "Bridge" was quick on the delivery.

Not bad for delivery

We ordered sweet and sour chicken which is usually served by itself and this came with peppers and pineapple mixed in:(. The pork fried rice was good with pieces of spare rib in it.the egg rolls great. They arrived exactly the time they promised.

I laugh with friends that you can judge Chinese restaurant by whether or not it has white pepper at the table instead of black pepper. As soon as I sat down at the table in Hunan Cuisine I was hopeful for fabulous authentic food. I've never been disappointed here. I've eaten at Hunan Cuisine several times over the last couple of years and it keeps getting better. They make everything to order and the wait is worth it. The hot and sour soup is especially good! Staff is super friendly as well! Note that this is more traditional cuisine. Don't expect a lot of Americanized stuff to slop on your food here. This is a place you go to enjoy the real food, not cover it up.
