Delicious food and very friendly and attentive service. The mango lassi and cauliflower pakora were great, followed by paneer and chicken tika masala. If we lived closer, we would come back often.

I discovered this place back in February of 21’. What amazing food right here. Presently they have Mon-Thur these lunch Thalia plates with a ton of really good entree choices. They just started back up lunch buffet Friday- Sunday. The 65 chicken is my absolute...favorite and the Naan bread is so soft and yummy. Great restaurant!More

My daughter suggested this for dinner. The food was excellent. We got the butter chicken, tiki masala, and chicken badami. All were delicious and could be ordered from mild to medium spice. The service was exceptional. We got the gulab jamun for dessert after our...waitress described it to us. It was one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. You can taste the love and pride of India in their food. I’ll definitely eat here again the next time I come to town.More

EXCELLENT INDIAN CUISINE, REASONABLY PRICED Tucked in small strip mall near downtown Birmingham is a first-rate Indian restaurant called Taj India. It has been popular for over 30 years, and its longevity is justified. There’s a variety of appetizers offered, 15 in all, and a...variety of freshly baked naan as well. Entrees include tandoori items (lamb is featured), vegetarian dishes, and an unusual Goan shrimp curry made with coconut milk. We would have liked to try one of their desserts, especially the saffron ice cream, but were too full; portions here are extremely generous. Full bar; attentive but non-intrusive service. All in all, a very pleasant dining experienceMore

It was Restaurant Week in Birmingham and a good time to try something new. Taj India has been in Birmingham for many years, but it was a new experience for some in our group. For just $10 each we enjoyed a three course meal -...appetizer platter, Thali platter with rice and meats and a small sweet. Two of us opted for the House Special Thali and two ordered the Chef Special Thali. So much food - we took a good part of our meal home in to-go boxes. There was chicken, lamb, shrimp, eggplant, rice and Naan bread. Service was great and our water glasses stayed filled.More

I have eaten Indian cuisine all over the world and to me the only place to go in Birmingham is Taj India. The buffet is fine but I especially like the courteous evening table service. The menu is extensive and reasonably priced. The recipes are...authentic and fresh. I have not had a bad dish here, although I especially like the Veggie dishes as well as the Chicken Tikka Masala and Naan. You really can’t go wrong. Try it!!More

My friend and I visited this restaurant on the way back from Atlanta to Memphis. We were very hungry and wanted to have quick byte. So we searched and found of “Taj India” with 4 star rating. When we reached there we were impressed with...the traditional ambiance. Though this restaurant is 25 years old but they maintained it pretty well. Staff was very welcoming and nice. Once we saw the menu we decided to have our dinner rather than the quick byte. Within no time staff brought the water and Papad with two of sauce (Chutney). Since I am a vegetarian, I ordered “Paneer Masaledar” and my friend ordered “Ghosht Karara” along with “Tandoori Roti”. Both the dishes exceeded our expectations and we finished the whole dish. The taste was authentic and different than the other Indian restaurants in US. I would highly recommend this restaurant to my family and friends. Whenever I am passing from Birmingham, I will surely stop by here for food.More

Nothing better than meeting for lunch at Taj India. Buffet. All you can eat. So many options for the Vegan/vegetarian and the meat-eaters. The fresh Naan with chutney is bonus bonanza. Very reasonable.
